Replying To rorysboys:  "Stop making excuses all ready. We were held back according to most of yous last year… all I'm saying it's time to let off the handbrake and see what we're worth. Starting with staying in division 1. We done it this last few years so no reason why we won't this year.. Murphy was Not going to last forever plenty players there ?"
What excuses… so you're saying we should be able to accomplish more this year minus 4/5 key players and if we don't then it proves your love in with Bonner was justified? Come on now..

Apart from Murphy who's your 4 or 5 key players. I read a lot on here this year that if you're missing players that's what a squad is for. What's the difference now.. I'm sick reading on here about this brilliant squad we have when anyone who knows there football will tell you different.

GAA made a big mistake with the Kerry game..3.45 on the Sunday in Ballybofey? Should have been Saturday night under the lights, it would have been a great occasion

At various points over the last few months I have heard that McBrearty, Jason McGee, Mogan, the two O'Donnells and Patton might not be available in 2023 for various reasons. I have no idea if those rumours are true or not but if they were, that would be over a third of our strongest starting 15 missing. Not to mention Murphy as well of course. Any team would be badly impacted by that type of loss no matter how well equipped their squad was.

I agree 100% and the Mayo game too is fixed for a Sunday.Going by the times for various games TV coverage could be a factor.Ballyshannon seems to be out of the equation,I thought they were getting a game this year.

Anyone who knows their football, like you the self praising expert.. it's not rocket science is it, if the rumours we are all hearing are true and we are down 5/6 key players along with Murphy from last year the clearly the squad is weakened. We have a very good squad if all commit, if 5/6 of the names I've heard don't then anyone with half a clue knows the job becomes much more challenging. It's hard to believe this has to be explained to a person but when you're so agenda driven in your views you can't see the wood from the trees..

Why are we down 5 or 6 players if true. A team most of yous think shud be competing in croke park every year shudnt be losing that many players. I said it last year and il say it again Donegal have a hard core who follow the team every where who deserve a good team but as for the band wagon supporters especially those who abuse players and management they deserve nothing. The convention on Wednesday will be dominated in most of the reports commenting on these fools.. maybe some of the players are sick of it and have to be coaxed back. I hope paddy carr gets the respect he deserves.

I don't know why we may be down that many key players. I doubt you or I have the answer. Just speculation I'm praying. It's obviously not a good situation if true and there isn't a fan in the county who will be happy with that. I'll support the team either way through thick or thin and I agree that Paddy is owed time and space to implement his regime.

Players will have their own individual reasons for choosing not to commit. I don't think it helps by speculating what those reasons may be. But if we do end up losing 5 or 6 key men then logically the squad's overall quality is diminished.

We're not down key players. The rumours were nonsense.

Well done to all the newly elected at last nights Convention.

Good to see Kilybegs ridiculous 'Granny rule' motion defeated as well. They must be getting worried in the fishing town if this is the route they are going down...

Any drama at the Convention last night? I see Fergus McGee is new county chairman. All the best to him in his new role.
(Might that now mean that the conty will have the Eunans men on board in 2023?). I'm not saying that McGee's election had anything to do with that. But if it means that the likes of Patton, Tobin, Morrision, Ward and the O'Donnells are available for county selection I'm sure Paddy Carr will be pleased.

Nothing silly about it. Half the delegates didn't think so anyway. Could you explain your reasoning. Or do you want all the small clubs going to the wall.

Congratulations to Fergus McGee - I was pulling for Paul McGonigle myself however all the best to Fergus and hopefully he will help steer us in the right direction as a county. As Paul said himself, hopefully this new era will result in the clubs getting a better opportunity now to have their voices heard and maybe there will be better relationships fostered across the county.

Small clubs will go to the wall if its passed.

What do you think Killybegs motivation is for it?

Small clubs will be picked apart by bigger clubs.

The likes of Single and Glenties would have a field day in Na Rossa for example

It could work the other way too. In fact I think it would make some junior teams stronger. A lot of young players are dedicated to their clubs and would not move. What small clubs are lacking is numbers so if they have an option of taking in extra players who's families have played for the club then I think it's a good thing.

If you start telling weeins where they can and can't play, they'll just go play something else. There's definitely a debate to be had for sure, but for me the priority should be getting the kids out playing at all, who they play for is secondary.

I fear it wouldn't go that way.

I think the Naomh Ultan delegate called it for what it is - a way to legitimise what has been going on for years, bigger clubs poaching players from smaller clubs.

It goes against everything the GAA was founded upon and stands for.
