Fair play to Connollys and Mostrim. Both showed up. Will be a good final, and I expect Connollys will finally break their run of bad luck in finals and come good on the day. A big achievement for them to get back to Senior if they make it. I remember them being relegated to Junior a decade or more ago, but they didn't make the drop in the end. Mostrim will be no pushover and have gone under the radar a bit with nobody expecting much from them this year. That won't phase them or their manager. Mullinalaghta proving to be the terminator of Longford football yet again. Gotta hand it to them. Incredible to see Fr. Manning Gaels relegated to Junior. Can't recall seeing a club going from senior to intermediate to junior in consecutive years before. They will bounce back, but still. Connollys had it so easy and they were streets and streets ahead, the 2 Reynolds had the freedom of Pearse Park, particularly Daniel. Killoe to win by 2 points them and Abbeylara both have injuries but Killoe have a much deeper squad, Abbeylara really under pressure having to call Colm P out of retirement the last day. Dromard have the two most inform forwards in the county right now in Joe Hagan and Aaron Farrell and the x factor from Matt Duffy and I see them doing it for Dromard, Dromard to win by two after extra time. Big win for Connollys, Tommy Donohoe is a shrewd man but Niall Sheridan has beat Connollys in a final before. Connollys need to find a way to get other scorers than dan and dessie reynolds. Mostrim have some very tidy forwards who will also need watching. Yes they have a good forward line but are weak at the back. Colmcille could easily have scored at least 4 fours against them the last day if they had their shooting boots on. Added to that Clonguish scored 4 goals in the first half against them in the semi last year. Like Clonguish Dromard have a young team but Clonguish have the experience. The other semi is a toss up. Mullinaghta showed all their experience in getting the win against Carrick with their ruthless scoring efficiency, scoring 2 points right at end of game just when it looked like Carrick were going to get over the line. Cian Mackey was immense for Mullinaghta and everything seemed to go through him. Carrick will really regret all the missed chances with 9 wides in the first half and another couple in the second half, story of their championship really, failing to get over the line and get wins when they had the chances. Leaves intermediate very intriguing next year with themselves and Rathcline. Should have an exciting intermediate final in place with Connollys and Mostrim. Ballymahon were as expected a no show and only got to a semi final by virute of a much easier and weaker group. I was expecting Grattens to be better but it looks like Mostrim are hitting form at the right time. Connollys will be dependent on massive performances from the 2 Reynolds to get over the line, and in fairness they have been both performing very well. But Mostrim will be well set up and will make nothing easy, they have a good few players still who have played lots of senior championship and look overall a better solid and balanced team not as dependent on individuals.
