Replying To Clonbonnyrabbitt:  "Its fair to let them play in this weekend's games but county teams do need their players in order to prepare for the tailteann cup. I think the county players will be back training after this weekend's games being played with them. Big wins for Colmcille and Dromard in tight games. Did anybody attend any games in either divisions?"
Were the county players playing the last round draw of games? Much needed win for Dromard. Slashers with a good win over Granard. Killoe and Carrick looked like a nip and tuck game. And Clonguish handed out an awful hammering to Rathcline.

All county senior and uder 20 players were released for the games. That would explain the change in results. Lots of teams missing so many at this time of year. Lots of shadowboxing its only april!!!

I was talking to a lad who was at the game in Newtown. He said Iarla O'Sullivan was missing for Rathcline. He said Clonguish didn't play Matthew Carey, Conor Flynn or Jamie Dorr and Andrew Flynn only came on as a sub. He said of the 28 points kicked by Clonguish, only 1 was a 2 pointer!

With only a few games gone no team has had a full pick so far and therefor cant really be judged this early. Clonguish are going fairly strong with so far, while Colmcille, Mullinalaghta, Killoe, Slashers and Carrickedmond are fairly competitive too without playing that good. The other 4 haven't got going yet, Granard and Rathcline especially.
Mostrim are in trouble already in a fairly competitive Div 2, with Grattans and Cashel setting a good standard so far.
When the leagues are over it should tell us who will be the serious competitors in the championships, but at the minute, both championships could be very competitive with 4 or 5 potentially strong teams capable of winning in both of them.

I think we can pack in the season now.
A woeful defeat against a Cashel team who by right should be playing Division 3 football this year.
We're warming up nicely to get a few trimmings in the senior championship.

Clonguish are setting the pace and standard so far. 28 points (27 scores is a serious return.

What is going on in Mostrim? They were in a county final only 4 years ago and now winless and at the bottom of Division 2. I know they lost their main man from last year, but surely he didn't make that much of a difference?

Losing so many players doesn't help but they won an U16 and Minor A championships not that long ago when amalgamated with Sean Connollys. Mostrim should be much stronger I suspect they will gather themselves for the championship but it will be very tough at the moment they wouldn't even be favourites to win intermediate if they were down there

Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "Tailteann Cup starts on weekend of 10th May. There are 3 rounds of ACFL between now and then. Best thing they can do is release the lads back to play in those games and let them get real game time which will stand to them. Nothing to be gained by holding lads back from playing in any of those 3 rounds."
Fermanagh, Wexford and Carlow. Going off our league results it looks tough but maybe it would be tough no matter who we got, hopefully some improved performances against Carlow and Wexford and we could get out of the group. Is it still three teams out of 4 progress

First and second go through, but only the best 3 of the 4 third placed teams go through because New York are automatically in one of the prelim quarter final spaces.

A result away from home this weekend would be a great start. Grattans absolutely flying in division 2 only team in the county with 100% record so far

Grattans flying, would be some achievement if they keep it up. Clonguish will win division 1 and leader cup and the championship. Clocking up big scorelines and without the county's top scorer who will be back once Tailteann is over. This is their breakthrough year.

I wouldn't be too sure on that.
Is Jack Duggan and Conor Smith injuries going to keep them out for the year?

Sure who did they beat?
Abbeylara missing their county players
Rathcline missing their county players
Dromard missing their county players
Killoe missing their county players as well as the Morans, McGoldricks, Paddy Kiernan and Mark Hughes.

New season and the same attempts from you

If we can get to the knockout in the Tailteann, that would be a good success.

Anything after that would be a bonus to help get a bit of a buzz going in the county

What are the groupings for the senior championship this year?
I'm assuming it's still 2 groups?
I haven't seen anything published, which is a bit odd!
When does the first round kick off?

Draw is usually made in mid May. So expect something in the next week or so I guess? Structure will be same as last year with two groups of 6. Last years championship began on 3rd weekend of July, so would expect similar.

New season and same whining that an opinion expressed on an open forum is somehow "taking a club down by talking them up" from you. Calm down.
