Replying To Rossfan93:  "A quick look forward to the weekend of club football ahead as the Roscommon Senior Club Championships kick off:

Senior:

St. Faithleach's v Padraig Pearses: Hard to look anything past a comfortable victory for Pearses here. Rumour of them missing Niall Daly which could be a factor but with Declan Kenny, Carey, Tumultey, Murray and the rest Pearses should be comfortable winners by 8/9 points.

Clan na Gael v St. Dominics: I expect this to be a tighter game than people may think. Clan to win by 3 or 4 points but I think Dominics will really test the Johnstown men. Will just have a bit too much strength and depth

Western Gaels v Michael Glaveys: Tough one to call here. Western Gaels have been unlucky in the last few years losing their group games by a mere few points. Andy Glennon leaving Glaveys is a huge hot for them to take and they are now going to rely on the Heneghan brothers for their scores. I'm going to say Western Gaels by 2 points but a draw could be on the cards.

Elphin vs St. Brigit's: The favourites meet the Intermediate champions. Orchard Park is a tough ground to go to but Brigits starting 15 (and beyond) is just too packed with quality. Brigits by 10. But I expect Elphin to get out of the group.

Boyle vs Roscommon Gaels: The Gaels are off the back of a very good league campaign with players to come back into the fold. Boyle will be out to avenge the clipping Roscommon Gaels gave them at home last time around and will need huge performances from their outstanding forward line. A very tight affair but I think Boyle will edge this by 1/2 points. The 2 point frees could be the deciding factor in this game with both sides having excellent set piece takers

Oran vs Castlerea: Another good game where Castlerea will look to show everyone their senior status is here to stay. Predicting oran by 5 points but if Castlerea can keep a solid shape at the back, they will really fancy an early win in this group."
I assume Daire Cregg will be absent and is a significant loss for Boyle as Donegal Boston have progressed to the semi final. This may give Roscommon Gaels the edge

Any hints as to who they are?"
Not a clue. Just a strong want for home setup.

Best of luck to Donie and thank you for your great service. Dug us out of a hole on many occasions and sacrificed your own game too. Pity the new rules were not up and running in your mid to late twenties.

I was thinking that too, such a pity talented forwards like him had to play their peak years during manure-ball.

As a Westmeath man at the Brigids game this evening the pace and intensity that they played at was frightening not sure what standard Elphin are at compared to them but off the lads I've seen playing schools football in Athlone that team definitely has all
Ireland potential in them

Elphin surprised Strokestown to win the Inter Final last year.
Brids now have at least 9 of the Ros Senior panel

Nothing like the club championship. Elphin have a lovely ground and the new stand is one of the best around. The pitch was in great condition and there was a good crowd at it

Brigids were in control from the throw in. As Westmeath poster said the intensity they played with did not let up. They will be annoyed about the goal they gave up and the scores they missed. Harder tests to come.

On the line did not see Talty at the game. Mooney behind goal in first half then next to Anthony and John in second. Intresting to see brian Derwin not get on the pitch. Hoping he is playing with out intermediate team later.

Was in Elphin last night. I actually thought they were well set up in defence and forced Brigids to pick them apart which they did with precision.
You can see what Talty has brought to them very similar to Limerick with patience and flooding bodies inside and huge intensity and structure in defence. Talking to a few Brigids supporters he seems to have shaken a few feathers up there and demands high standards from everyone.
However biggest tests lie in wait and with huge expectations on them internally and externally will be interesting to see what happens come 1/4 final when the heat is turned up like last year.

Quarter Final is the best chance of turning them over.
Is that Evan Talty?
Wasn't he part iof the 2024 County U20 backroom?

Oran had too much attacking quality for Castlerea. Some lovely direct kick passing to their game and very well taken scores. Probably left 2 goals behind them as well. Castlerea on the flip side with some very loose defending and sloppy unforced errors. A few holes in the Oran fullback line which they'll need to tighten up on before playing the Gaels and Boyle. Thought Adam McDermott would cause more damage if he was positioned closer to goal.

wind up I'd say with Cake's former Carlow connection.
All very quiet on manager news. Has the Analyser any update. He usually has his ear to the ground.
