The thing I liked with McGrath in goal in the second half is twice the ball dropped short into his hands and immediately he played a nice kick pass to get the attack going. Particularly the Tony Brosnan shot that dropped short. He pinged a lovely ball 40 yards out to his left on to the chest and we were gone up the field, bypassing a bunch of the Kerry players who were inside the 45. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 1053 - 15/02/2026 12:52:45 2656529 Link 2 |

If he was playing Gleeson may not have made the error McGrath made for the 2nd goal but he has made plenty of errors like that over the years and been picked the following week by Joyce. McGrath showed in both halves that has better accuracy and variety than Gleeson and he deserves another chance next week. Kicked a brilliant ball out of his hands that started the move for Oisin McDonagh's 2 pointer. If he gets the same chance and backing that Gleeson got over the last 6 years he will be a very good keeper. jobseekersbent (Galway) - Posts: 398 - 15/02/2026 12:53:38 2656530 Link 1 |

It was his first senior game. Worth trying again would be my own view. I wonder had the change anything to do with Galligan

I don't read it like that, we missed frees, dropped short and were very wasteful, we also gifted them 2 goals so we were not that far off them.

Said Walsh and McDaid will be out a while. Didn't sound like they would be back for the next few games anyway. Didn't mention Silke as it only happened during the warm up. He's not even being asked about Comer at this stage. Conroy back training but probably won't feature for a few weeks. Darcy and Daly weren't mentioned. PJ sounded fed up talking about injuries to be honest.

Cappagh park would be ideal. They tried that! It's owned by the council. They weren't even allowed to put a fence around it or erect nets behind the goals. Next?? StopTheLights (Galway) - Posts: 460 - 15/02/2026 14:26:04 2656541 Link 2 |

Don't be wasting your time trying to have a discussion with Clare from the blog. Read the blog from last evening and posts from S1234, they are exactly the same.

What keeper was on the bench? Was it Flaherty or Gleeson or were they absent

I foresee a long protracted process. This will cost them a lot of money to sort. It is a nightmare for planners and county board.

Conor Flaherty was on the bench and was named to start.

So does Conor Flaherty not deserve a decent chance?

Yes I think he does biggest drawback for Conor is that he plays outfield for club Galway def need settle on a goalie and not be swaping them every game or 2 ( not saying they will do that ) give Eamonn next few matches to settle and see then where he at in his overall game all 3 have there strong points and all 3 have aspects that they need improve on ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1130 - 15/02/2026 17:29:09 2656602 Link 0 |
