A lot of stupid comments and re writing of history.

Jeopardy jeopardy jeopardy one analyst said it then they all said the same rubbish every week. The gaa analysts must be the laziest of all time.

There was a clear advantage from topping the group. It caught up with us each year in terms of injury, We had lads on 1 leg in the final 2 years ago.

The group games were amazing over the last few years and that was before the new rules.

So many games to lose 4 teams..... so what..... do you not like football?????

Same rubbish now being spouted about the provincials, never mind that we had 3 fantastic provincial finals this year with great crowds, great games and amazing scenes ........that doesn't fit the narrative.

Some people are not happy if they don't have something to complain about.

Fitzy Abú!!

Replying To JimB1991:  "The point he is making is there not knockout games, there is a safety net in a grouo format.
The only high stakes Knockout game Galway have won in the last few yrs which you could say was an impressive win against Similar level or better oppostion is:
Derry 2022 - that was an awful game and Derry didn't perform
Dublin 2024 - Dublin past their best and that was the end of the road for that team
Donegal 2024 - Galway were the better team but a lucky goal gave them the buffer and Donegal panicked a little

All in all it I think it is fair to say Galway's record isn't the most impressive when the real pressuee games kick in."
That's not the point at issue at all though. The point at issue is that gaalover claims there was no jeopardy in the group structure, when in actual fact there was a level of jeopardy in there.

2022 Derry put 15 men behind the ball. They chose to perform like that. Thankfully we had Comer who could taken on and beat his man and got crucial scores. Once he got the first goal and Derry then had to push out, it was game over.
2024 Dublin were defending All-Ireland champions, still had Brian Fenton and pretty much the whole team which won the All-Ireland. Dublin were short odds for that match. Easy to write it off now, but that wasn't the expectation at the time.
2024 A competitive game with Donegal, but we had the edge on them and never felt like they were going to catch us.
The team got the job done in tough tight games in Croke Park those days. Many other days they didn't. No need to try to re-write the scéal.
