what time is team announced tonight cavan.galway (Galway) - Posts: 246 - 12/06/2025 18:41:44 2617026 Link 0 |
I'd expect the same from Jim Mc Guiness and Donegal to get the job done early against Mayo and send them packing out of the championship

Sean Fitzgerland for Sean Mulkerrin Cein Darcy for Sam O'Neill the changes not as many as some here thought. Strange match whereby Armagh are already into the last 8 having topped the table and should Dublin beat Derry then this game is basically a dead rubber Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 494 - 12/06/2025 23:51:54 2617072 Link 0 |
Bit of a difference Armagh are through as winner no matter what. Donegal could be out if dont win granted Cavan would need beat Tyrone too. What is the verdict on team? I am happy to see Fitz start think he is underrated and his absence the lasr few games showed that Mulkerrins not strong enough IMO. Any changes before throw in? Finnerty wont be at 11 straight. I do feel for Sam O Neill embarassed by PJ against Derry hooking him after 15 after scoring a point & not on 26. Massive game and Armagh have gone very strong. My main hope for Galway mainly hangs on the hope that regardless what McGeeney says, deep down, the Armagh players will know this does not really matter. If Galway can battle like in the Connacht final and last 10 minutes v Derry, this could come into play.

Don't think people should be surprised by the minimal changes to the team, PJ has shown time and time again that he'll generally stick with those favours unless injuries play a part. It's a strong team on paper provided lads that haven't played to their peak in the round robin can reach those levels tomorrow. Surely zero motivation needed given the circumstances and opposition.

Definitely time to **** or get off the pot for these players.. a last second defeat to Dublin followed by a draw away in Derry means they are not far off getting a big win, but performance levels need to improve so much.. I'm wondering what Mickey Graham has brought to the table and I fail to see much... Defensively Cian O Neill has been a massive loss.. Grugans absence will help as he is their top scorer but that won't matter if we don't step up.. Belclare7 (Galway) - Posts: 295 - 13/06/2025 10:22:49 2617128 Link 0 |
Armagh have named w strong team. Probably a few changes before throw in by both teams. jj19 (Galway) - Posts: 456 - 13/06/2025 10:32:24 2617133 Link 0 |
there will probably be a few changes made to both teams. strong line ups by both. cocopop (Roscommon) - Posts: 47 - 13/06/2025 12:35:55 2617174 Link 0 |
Yeah agree, we have all to play for and Armagh have nothing to play for (no matter how much they big it up - its just not do or die for them), so if we cant beat them under that set of circumstances then we dont deserve to progress. I dont think that Cian O Neill has been adequetley replaced either to be honest. Now for the positivies, as you said we were a kick of a ball away from getting a result against Dublin and another kick of a ball away from beating derry - and we only played for 20mins in each game. Were not far off it and we havent played well for a majority of a match in a long time ! The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 793 - 13/06/2025 15:18:07 2617216 Link 0 |
If you only play for 20 minutes tomorrow you won't need to worry about the rest of the season...

Only playing for 20 mins is a pretty big problem. we must also realise Dublin lost to meath well bet by Armagh. Derry have not won a game all year. Roscommon have bave been well bet by Kerry scraped a draw against Meath & Mayo lost to Cavan at home. If anything it looks like we have regressed this year but hoping sat could be a turning point. Also feel Dubs will do us a favour regardless and we get through with a might 1 point from 3 games

Two teams of similar quality in where only fine margin separated the two in previous championship games. Armagh and McGeeney will be taking no risks and will sub off any named starter with any niggle during the game. Galway only ever beat teams comfortably when they are up against poorly organised teams and you aren't going to get that against a McGeeney team but it's still a game that Galway should win by a point or two.

Unless Armagh don't play at all, but i agree, there can be no excuses tomorrow evening from PJ after the game.. Funny thing is getting out of this group could be the making of our season.. Belclare7 (Galway) - Posts: 295 - 13/06/2025 16:27:17 2617239 Link 0 |
Who would you have liked to have been brought in? Cian O'Neill is hard to replace his experience alone was massive, I don't know if there is too many more coaches at his level? Strong team named thought John Daly has done enough to get back in for a start, his passing to the inside forwards could be a great weapon

Ye expecting the same to be honest. Not to sound overconfident but there's no excuses for Donegal. No reason not to go out and beat a team they are better than very well. Best case, and most unlikely scenario, is winning and Cavan shocking Tyrone. Next best case is winning this game comfortably, getting a favourable prelim draw and winning that comfortably. Lots of things outside Donegal's control, but what is within their control is coming out of the blocks fast against Mayo and thats what they should be focused on. We need to bring a bit of rage into this. We're developing leaders but can we actually get angry, and enraged to the point where we feel we screwed up in all our last three championship games against them and now we're frothing at the mouths for revenge? Why is it always the Ulster teams can be edgy and angry and we all have to seem slightly scared of them and tiptoeing around Geezer and the likes (the chippy, hard men from the North shtick)?! Lace into them lads, hit those orange jerseys harder than they've ever been hit. We shouldn't give a damn for anyone and need to use all the hurt and bring the rage in Breffni today. We screwed up against them in Carrick in 23, letting them kick an injury time winner. We should have won that game. We then royally screwed up against them in Markievicz, where we controlled that game for long periods and flopped to allow them to draw it, top the group and ultimately destroy our season. We should have won that game too. And then the Croke Park debacle. We should've won that game too. But we didn't. We didn't win any of the 3 of them. And now the shoulda, woulda, coulda soft weshty talk has to stop and real hard men need to step up, on the field and sideline alike, and boss this fixture. Get angry cos they've made fools of us for too long. Deep down they think we're soft, let's put them back on their a****. Cmon Galway. togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 1067 - 14/06/2025 07:37:27 2617298 Link 2 |
These non sensical old school ramblings. Joyce has a great record v ulster teams and we don't need to be going out in a rage looking to hit opposition Clear heads hard work and play what's in front of you. Keep the scoreboard ticking don't be forcing 2s if there a chance of a handy point take it jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1575 - 14/06/2025 12:03:04 2617325 Link 0 |
If it keeps happening is it not more likely a case Armagh are just better?
