So who would be the best candidate to replace Cian O'Neill, Fox.1n.7he.b0x (Galway) - Posts: 124 - 07/09/2024 00:23:32 2568799 Link 0 |
Looks like he's in with the hurlers. Big loss not having his knowledge available to footballers.

Will be played on Thursday night if a team with a hurling commitment. Otherwise it'll be on that weekend.

When Gaa was founded the parish rule followed the Catholic Church parish boundaries that were in place.

I would like if Dave Morris got involved in the coaching set up I definitely think he would have a lot to offer id imagine Padraig must have someone lined up goung on past record it prob be ex team mate or close friend ,, cian o Neill definitely help improve Galway he has being with a good few teams and so far none have claimed the big prize ,, hopefully whoever Galway get will help improve the attacking part of game and maybe even try play forwards in forwards,, and not load the subs bench with defenders Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 931 - 07/09/2024 14:03:02 2568832 Link 0 |
That's not true. He was in with Kerry when they won in 2014 and with the Tipp hurlers when they stopped Kilkenny's drive for five in 2010. He did a lot of great with Galway and definitely needs to be replaced with a top quality coach. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2156 - 07/09/2024 15:46:54 2568840 Link 0 |
I knew he was with tipp didn't realize he was with Kerry when they won it my apologies. Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 931 - 07/09/2024 17:28:41 2568845 Link 0 |
I hear what you say, pitches also had four goalposts at each end and no crossbar and teams were comprised of 21 a side who played with an oval football and one goal beat any amount of points back then. Why are only some of the founding set of rules permanently baked in and not others? Stating what was in place in 1984 takes no account of the Association, society or church structures of today as parishes population and life style are all vastly different.I don't see todays default situation that has evolved over the last half century or more as ideal but it needs to be addressed in a logical way with clear agreed structures.Ignoring or complaining is no to advantage to any part of the Association.

Owen gallagher has been living in Galway for 9 years, and Maigh Cuillin for 7 years now, he was on the Maigh Cuillin 2020 team. It's getting ridiculous people not accepting anyone who wasn't born there.

He moved down to Moycullen in 2015, and he was a big influence in the 2019/2002 championship for Maigh Cuillin - it's fairly straightforward to Google it. He also played for Galway.

As I said Galway probably have the stronger first 15 and Armagh have the stronger squad. Very little between the teams overall as I keep saying but you take whatever bits suit your argument if thats what makes you feel better. My argument as it always has been is noone outside Galway or the national media thought Galway were way ahead of Armagh or were shocked Armagh won. I don't know why the Galway crowd thought different. Bdonegal1991 (Donegal) - Posts: 88 - 08/09/2024 22:09:15 2568998 Link 0 |

No one was shocked. Galway's freetaking was shocking from my perspective, and costly on the day.

If Dessie dolan is going be a forward coach does thar mean for next year Galway will play forwards in forwards what will Joyce do with all the defenders on the panel ,,, it be very unusual for Joyce to bring a friend of his onto the management set up ,,,,,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 931 - 09/09/2024 16:41:59 2569124 Link 1 |

That's a strange appointment from the little I hear from living in the Athlone area. From a football point of view and would be a strange character personally.
