On the road and I'm hopeful of the win.
A win today would be huge and I think the players know that. Best of luck to the lads and safe travelling to those heading up

Replying To JahTribe:  "Jaysus the Mayo vs Roscommon game was dire stuff particularly the second half. We have to beat Monaghan now, its a must win. Hard to believe that Roscommon team beat Monaghan by so much last week. League form is totally up and down."
Totally disagree. I thought mayo ros game was high quality and entertaining in difficult conditions. OK ros failed badly in second half but I suggest that from a neutrals perspective it was a far better watch than any of the Galway games so far this year.

Replying To The_analyser:  "dire stuff particularly from us the second half. You should beat Monaghan by a bit to spare they looked like a Div 3 team against us last week and it was easy to see why Derry, Kerry hammered them also. They have too many players out Galway have a lot better strength in depth"
I don't think Galway can afford to fall for that old chestnut of "only showing up to win". Monaghan have proved extremely tricky opponents for Galway in recent years e.g. they were relegated by them in 2021 and were also beaten in the Super 8's in Pearse Stadium in 2018 (hard to believe it was that long ago!). It will be tight and tense I would say as Galway have only 1 or 2 out and out forwards playing.

High Quality, Jaysus were you watching the same game. The first half was ok but the second half was rubbish with Roscommon clueless and Mayo not much better with ROD their only forward of any note.

Massive game 2 day especially after Ross loosing Galway have to win , they need keep monasteries to 10 points or less hard see Galway scoring much more than 12 scores i will predict Monaghan 0-10 to 1-09

He stepped away"

This is as bad as any Junior C club game you will see all year

Kelly started instead of Conroy.

Daly and Darcy doing absolutely nothing up front.

Galway making so many stupid errors. Giving cheap ball away.

Cunningham doing ok.

Thankfully Monaghan are hilariously bad at defending aimless high balls!

Galway with 2 goals coming from high balls into the Monaghan goal mouth. And winning the breaking ball to score.

Still only 6 in it despite Galway scoring 3 goals so not over yet.

Cunningham has been a real bright spark..
We're still open at the back, Niall Daly is NOT a forward..
Monaghan a shambles in defence

Three goals in first half, Cunningham stand out player for us... Littered with handling errors by our lads.. Black card harsh, referee not giving much to home side imo... Scoreline at half-time very flattering to us

Finnerty off with a knock. Replaced by O'Conghaile.

Good win in fairness. Not sure 5 points will be enough though. Can see Tyrone and Roscommon winning at least one of their remaining games and if that happens Galway will likely go down if they lose to both Dublin and Kerry. Still might need at least 1 more point.

Hard to see Roscommon getting anything from Kerry and Derry though.

Doubtful any more points are needed. Roscommon will be huge outsiders to get any points against Kerry and then away to Derry.

We play Dublin and Kerry.
Tyrone play Monaghan and Dublin.
Roscommon play Kerry and Derry.
The three of us will be underdogs in all of those games, except for Tyrone against Monaghan.
Monaghan themselves have Tyrone and Mayo. Two wins there would almost certainly have them safe.
It looks like it will go down to the wire.

Grinded that out today, Cunningham took his goal chance (I thought he was excellent), Cillian O'Currain was also good when he came in, I think he got 4 or 5. We finished with O'Flaherty, Conghaile, O'Currain and Egan from last years U20's. These lads have to get game time and the panel will be looking better when we get Shane, Damo, Liam, Cillian and Paul back. Maher, player of match for me.
