Are you talking about ciaran or conor mcmanus? I would swap Damien comer for both of them. No hesitation.

Just a quick run down of lads that have been/ will be involved for season ahead. I'm aware I may have missed some names. The line I was placed them in is based on where they've mostly played for galway (in case of the younger lads, where they played at U20 I.e Egan). They are listed in no particular order. They are in no particular order. Would be interested to hear what starting 15 other posters would pick based off the above. If there's anyone I've missed feel free to say!"
You sure all the above are involved? Not sure if a couple of the Mountbellew lads are.

I would hesitate given McManus is 36 and very much at the tail end of his career. He's admitted that he'll need a hip replacement when he finishes playing, and he'll likely have his game time limited this year by Monaghan to try to keep him fit.
A magnificent player, but I wouldn't be swapping him for a 30 year old Comer or Walsh.

The post I was responding to mentioned Matty Forde and Ciaran Mcdonald. I'm presuming in this alternate reality that the players are all in their prime and for some reason I can swap them.

I don't know. But I tell you now .. They have the best man possible over them, absolutely meticulous in preparation.
I believe Derek Savage will be Galways next senior manager...

His performance levels in last year's championship were well above those of Shane Walsh and Damian Comer.

Heard Don Connellan has stepped down. Mark McHugh is involved, I believe in a coaching capacity.
Didn't hear of any new players. Is Gallagher gone

Damian Comer was injured for most of the games last year but he still played very well when he could play. Shane Walsh was certainly not at his best but when he is at his best like he was for Kilmacud Crokes recently and in the 2022 AI final, he is the best player in Ireland IMO.

Comer was excellent in last year's championship. Injury was what put paid his campaign. He had 1-08 from play in the 4 games he played before injury finished his season. His display against Roscommon was exceptional, not just up front but in winning kickouts and making crucial blocks and interceptions at the back.
McManus scored a total of 0-05 from play across 7 games. I wouldn't say he was well above Comer at all. When Comer got injured our chances of progressing took a huge hit. He was in excellent form last summer.

To put things in perspective, the last time you'd look forward to going to matches, was when we had players like Donnellan, Fallon, Sean Og and Pj playing. Apart from their obvious talent, they we're ultra competitive. Alas, nowadays that absorbing characteristic is not evident. Just to be clear, I don't for one minute blame any player - if it's not there in the first place, then no manager can get it out."
O'Se and Durcan?

For all the nonsense abuse Walsh takes, he's still put up a better display in an All Ireland final than O'Se or Durcan have in multiple finals. McDaid did also. Both of those are fine players and O'Se had a very good 2019 drawn game but they've been missing in plenty of big games also

The running down of some of Galway's stalwarts on here by supposed Galway supporters really is quite something

Walsh to Joyce to Savo. Its a possibility. I'm thinking PJ has taken them as far as he can but will have a last chance this year. I would be happy to see Savage managing us, maybe we will play some attacking football I expected when Joyce took over.

Better display than Paddy or Aido in the final is an understatement. Shane Walsh had one of the greatest All Ireland final performances in years v Kerry. I thought he was man of the match that day. A bit below his brilliant best last year but for years plays to a very high standard for Galway.

Durcan I agree - class player who leads by example the whole time.
Are you talking about Aidan O'Shea above or a different O'Se?
He has played in how many All Ireland finals now and he's been stink in all of them.

I'd assume he's referring to Sean O'Shea. Aidan has played in 7 or 8 All-Ireland finals and has yet to score in any of them. He hasn't performed to his best on the biggest day.

I was referring to Kerry's O'Se not Mayo's. Durcan in my opinion is a leader and has the ability to rally team mates. Again only opinion.

Correct, Sean O'Shea Kerry. While not as influential as David Clifford, he is imo, a selfless player that always gives it everything.

I thought you were asking for Walsh, Joyce and Savage to tog out for Galway again there for a second - the way the current team are performing they wouldn't be too far out of place! lol
