Replying To Trump2020:  "It seems Shefflin is trying to build a team deep enough to withstand injuries which is proper due to the physicality of the round Robin system. You want lads coming off the bench that are as good as who they replaced on the field."
I think you will have them.

Replying To baire:  "No matter who was playing on either team Wexford were on top in the first 20 minutes but failed to take their points. Instead of 10 they could have scored 20. On the other hand Galway failed to score from the penalty and fumbled at least three other goal chances. The fact that they needed Concannon to change the game in their favour tells me that come championship it's going to take another year or more for the less established players to shine at this level. I may be wrong, it's only February etc."
I think you are shaping up nicely tbh Baire

Replying To galway19:  "Collins is going to make it very hard for Shefflin to keep him on the bench. Would like to him start a game or two later in the league. Concannon looked sharp when he came in, hopefully he can be enough of a threat inside that it might allow Whelan to stay at 11.

Full back line should Wexford down completely and I think those two corner back spots are nailed down now with Grealish and Morrissey."
Not so sure about that. Collins is a great prospect but is as light as a feather. I'd worry for him coming up against some giant and seasoned defenders. Can see him being an impact sub for us with 10 -15 minutes to go when the play loosens up but I dont think he'll be starting matches for us.

Missed almost all of this game at the weekend. How did O'Shea go and did he play at 14?

Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "Don't know about much of that tbh, they had 7 starters from last years semi final and no sign of David Burke, Daithi Burke, Cathal Mannion, Joe Cooney, Conor Cooney, Fintan Burke....some amount of all stars and top top players in thag list.I have this down as a very poor result for Wexford, a lot stronger team out and at home. Think this was very much a game should've looked at as very winnable. Think Shefflin has made it very clear he's looking to build a panel so to get as a comprehensive a win as he did with all those lads (plus Cianan Fahy, Adrian Tuohey, Kevin Cooney as other lads who've played champioship to come back) I think it was an all round dier performance by our lads. I've divided loyalties on this and love seeing great contests between these but nothing shows how important Lee Chin is for us intil he's gone. Him and Rory are probably the only guaranteed starters to come back for us too, I'd say 95% of Wexford followers would agree with. Usually always agree with what you say on here but I definitely don't see that. That was a very experimental Galway team."
Richie Lawlor would be another lad who could see gametime in Salthill. Off the bench if not starting. And Ian Carty too. Hopefully Ross Banville can get a run of League games if he fully shakes off the knock he picked up against Offaly. That would sort out the dire freetaking situation too!

Replying To katser:  "I'll take the League title any year you get the Chance, yes Galway will be ready for the Leinster Championship...
... in all honesty if we can't win Leinster this year, Kilkenny hanging on like a loose button, Wexford no threat whatsoever and Dublin hmmmmm no comment!!"
We'll see come summer I suppose

Replying To tommy k:  "I would hope Ja Mannion gets another chance to prove himself when the sod is dry as he is very quick, skillful and a good scorer when on form. A cold rainy night does not suit him and he has been unlucky a couple of times with being sent off for off the ball tussles in the past."
He will get his chances in the League but won't come within an Ass's roar of the Championship team with forward unit of J Flynn, E Niland, C Mannion, C Whelan, C Cooney, B Concannon!!!!
I much prefer his Clubmate....the little nipper Collins!!

Stick (pun intended) to the hurling lad, and leave the big stuff to the big boys!

Agree with your post 100%. This lad could be a super sub 15-20 minutes from the end of a tight match where the big physical giants are winded and tired and this lad running like a deer fresh as a daisy! Every puck out could be in his direction where he'd likely win most of them.

I sure hope so. I mean how many teams could lose a CIAN LYNCH and still win an All Ireland? Well obviously Limerick can and it's a tribute to how deep they are. Shefflin isn't blind so I'm sure he notices that it's the only way to have a chance to make a REALISTIC run at an All Ireland.

Wrong information from Wikipedia reference The League!!!
According to the hurling experts the top 2 from Div 1a and 1b Cross play in the National Hurling League Semi Finals!

After Limerick you have the next best panel. You have 20 odd lads with good senior inter-county championship experience already. Clare have the next best panel I think though light on backs. Cork, Kilkenny and Tipp have plenty of hurlers, and young lads who have had success at u20, but as you well know up your way not all of them will make it at Senior intercounty so the jury is still out on them. Waterford have a good panel too though probably the opposite of Clare they are lacking another free scoring forward or 2. We have had a good 1st team the last few years but this is the 1st year we seem to be making a real attempt at building a panel. I was trying to think how long since to put at the end of that last sentence but I think it's probably the 1st time ever on reflection. Dublin are probably in the same boat as us.

C. Cooney's form has dropped off a cliff since 2017 and he is only included now based on past glories. Cathal Mannion also needs to recapture some of the form he showed a few years back and Flynn needs to show some consistency during games and from game to game!

katser is right, I'm wrong. The GAA site is terrible, has been for years, if you're trying to get information. I looked at 3 different sources, none mentioned semi-finals. Finally found a site that mentioned semi-finals and dates ( Saturday 25 / Sunday 26 March). Your Waterford v Tipp final is still a possibility, although I think KK might have something to say about that this weekend.

He did ok but wasn't hectic . I'd give him 5 out of 10. Spent a lot his time roving outfield mainly around midfield. I dont fancy him as a full forward anyway... he links up play quite well so I think having him out the field around half forward/midfield is making the best use of him
