Replying To Oldtourman:  "Well Baire I agree with in you in every word of that. I do not care, if what I hear , as to what happened, is true in the lead up to the Casey incident, any camera angle that is available should be used to expose his opponents alleged behaviour- as I say if what I hear is true. I'd be happy to have Casey serve his suspension if every effort was made to show the other side of the incident. As you say I think it is time this 'softening process' was put under further scrutiny. I have never seen it happen at close, but I was never a Senior hurler, but I have heard of a number of cases of players been grabbed by the testicles during games. This is a particularly low act and anyone who engages in it should not be left next or near a hurling field."
Gerald McCarthy hit Ger Loughnane in the you know whats during the 1978 Munster final. The referee missed it but an umpire saw it and McCarthy was booked.

Replying To baire:  "While watching the game, it was obvious that the Limerick management had warned the likes of Hegarty and Gillane to restrain themselves against Waterford due to video evidence of them striking players in previous games. Hegarty and Gillane were noticeably quieter against Waterford but Casey must have missed the briefing - sporting Limerick at its best."
Peter Casey has been cleared to play in the final, so Sporting Limerick were quite right to appealnit.

Replying To Claretandblue:  "Did Gleeson warrant a red card? Doubtful, not relevant anyway, players provoked regularly, head butting opponent after provocation hardly justified? Maybe it is!!!!!! Strange tactic"
So much for your dogmatic to this issue. Casey has been cleared to play in the final. No doubt you will be delighted.

The right decision in my opinion. Glad to see common sense prevailing.

Surprising that he got off. I'm not sure it was a wise move by Limerick. These things generally comes bsck to bite.
They are certainty losing the PR gane given gillane, hegarty and now this.

I didn't see the incident, I'm assuming that seeing as how you're declaring it a victory for fair play that he was wrongly sent off yeah?

Replying To StoreysTash:  "Here's an idea. How's about EVERY county agrees to stop playing for frees, diving to win them, pretending they are fouled, and be a man about things instead of going down to get the opponent sent off?
It is pathetic and probably been driven by the same managers who are the first to cry foul when one of their own players misses a big match over such an incident.
And before Limerick posters accuse me of picking on them, I am 100% not referring to them. I am referring to every county, including my own.
Some players are just cheats and to me, until GAA commentators, pundits start calling them out instead of having a hear no evil see no evil omertha on these things, then expect this nonsense and problem with players missing big games to only get worse."
Is this really a new thing? I've been around a few years now at this stage and I can say it's always been in the game.
What I don't get is why the lad who gets the belt of a hurl or fist is getting slated. I've played in the backs all my life and I'd be lying if i said I didn't try to provoke a lad here and there by nudging a hurl into his back for example. Does that give the man the right to turn around and flake me with a full strike of the hurl? Some will say it does but regardless of that - which is a red card offence? What I did or what he did? People on here need to wake up. There's dark arts in hurling forever and if a hot head can't handle that in a proper way without doing something stupid then he deserves go off. There are ways to seek retribution and anyone that has played that game know what they are!

Delighted for Peter Casey he didn't deserve that red card last week, and the cccc or whoever it was hearing his appeal must have being extremely satisfied with his defence if his appeal passed first time.

It's good for the soul to see Peter Casey cleared; pure wizard wrists on this hurling genius! Now we can see the two best hurling teams in Ireland go head to head, each with a full compliment of players. Let's hope that neither team has injuries or illness between now and throw-in time!
