Have to say I agree with Tiobraid. We have just won 3 all Ireland titles in 4 years. I could never have foreseen this in 40 years following Limerick. Probably no need to be discussing incidents from the past. As Tony Soprano said in his final scene 'focus on the good times'. These cruciate injuries continue sadly. DeBurca and Mahony last year. You would thing between science and the sport some sort of analysis would be done to look at cause and prevention. There has got to be a common denominator. These trainers got to have some responsibility for it. They will continue until some thing changes. It must be devastating to loose practically a whole year from you playing career as well as the suffering.

cork will challenge not sure whether the present management have that tactical awareness to take down limerick.....on paper they look to have the dream team but they either couldnt see it or dont have anyone else but cork, and i having saying it all year they have no centre back or fullback. coleman is not physically strong enough for centre bk is a wing bk but the biggest false dawn for me was downey at fullback he is too tall and awkward to be marking the quality of fullforwards that are around now. but cork management didnt help he's cause either with the amont of space in front of the limerick fullforward line. everyone was saying he had an outstanding semi final against kilkenny but when he was dragged away from the square by billy ryan he was destroyed.

Cork are resigned to waiting a few years until underage teams mature. Kilkenny, Tipp, Galway on the slide! Waterford, Clare, Dublin are not good enough. Some years of Limerick dominance similar to Kilkenny's is on cards. Good for Limerick, but nobody else!

Hi Rockies I think Waterford are a lot closer than they get credit for. Having watched all of Limerick's games back a few times, Waterford are the closest team to Limerick in a number of ways. Waterford expended a lot of energy in the first 20 minutes v Limerick. They got to 0-4 each but in Q2 Limerick kicked and went 0-10 to 0-4 up. By the 37th minute Limerick had extended that to 0-16 v 0-7. I couldn't understand the game plan given their schedule before that semi final. If Waterford take a different approach against us going forward they might profit. This current Limerick team is physical and Waterford play with great energy and movement. Going around us rather than through us might be the answer. Their players are very capable of a high energy game which would be needed to do this. Time will tell, but Limerick were much superior to Waterford in this year's semifinal and last year's all Ireland final. Seems a mute point at the moment as the hurling inter county season is over. At least the football this year is refreshing with Mayo and Tyrone at the forefront. No individual dominant team here!

You are right. And on top of that Waterfords high energy style doesnt suit the backdoor. The same for Limerick. The last leveller will be the round Robin coming back. A couple of slighrly off games and both Waterford and Limerick could find themselves gone by June. Unlikely it has to be said at the same time! The flakier teams who currently are the 2 of the big 3 that play in the Munster Championship are likely the 2 to miss out next year I feel.

I'd wager that Limerick's name will be on the Liam McCarthy again in 2022. The rest will play for 2nd place. Waterford aren't close to Limerick. Kilkenny's dominant years were interrupted occasionally by a resurgent Tipperary, but I don't see a similar competitor to Limerick. It's a one horse race

I have to disagree with you. We would be close to them with a full deck to play with. if that is close enough to beat them is another question. I know every team gets injuries but it is a killer for us with limited resources. I wonder how close we would have been this year with the number one and two centre backs available. Also if we did not have to play four weeks in row. Of course we will never know that and I would not down grade the superiority of Limerick in all aspects of the game. To me we need to get to the Munster final as a necessity win or lose. Going around the horn is a death sentence. Not sure if it reverts to round robin next year. Then the advantage might be in being third.

They will be deserving favourites next year but there is no such thing as a 1 horse race in hurling.

Maurice Shanahan 4-13 today on top of all he scored last year. Connors is still not just the best defender in the county but one of the best in the country. The great scribe is correct! Champions for years to come... at least 3 years. There will be a few sparring partners, but no serious opposition. Cork's underage teams will be next contenders in a few years.

You would wonder all right about the logic of leaving them off the panel completely? Surely They could offer something going forward, even as subs.. As you say they're both quality players and strength in depth is essential. Hope Cahill has good reasons for omitting them, and if so, should clarify them. Maurice Shanahan was contacted by phone after 13 years service, and told his services were no longer required. He certainly is a prolific scorer in club championship. Noel Connors is an excellent hurler!

Is it not up to the manager of all teams to pick the players he wants?our own man in limerick got rid of fellas after 2018 and no questions were asked..I'm sure if players like those mentioned catch the managers eye they'll be back in contention..I'm sure there are players in every county who people would say they should be on the panels..
