Are they insulting? Dublin have won every game by a cricket score and win 95% of games for the last 10 years by a cricket score.

Dublin played well against a Meath team with a lot of issues who did not play well on the day. Possibly Dublin are not as good as they looked against Meath. Meaths limitations were there to be seen against Kildare. I would say Cavan are better balanced, more physical and have better GK and more seasoned experienced players than Meath, as well as an excellent manager. They also have beaten two division 1 teams in championship this year in Monaghan and Donegal and I think they could get within 10 points of Dublin, Westmeath ran Dublin to 11 points after all. Not saying that's the height of their ambition but I hope they can make a contest of it

Cavan will bring much intensity for 70 minutes there is no doubt about this.

But....

They are not as fast as the Dublin players.

Therefore...

They will need to score heavily as Dublin will be in for scores very regularly.

This is probably a very overly simplified version of the lay of the land.
I think that Cavan are ulster's best hope of putting it up to the Dubs.

And yes, it would be nice to see the game being played in Navan or somewhere like that. No reason why not as there is going to be no gate in any event. I suppose the surface will depend on a lot of the decisions re the venue. I hope it is closer than the Leinster final.

Ye definitly have closed minds of why recent successes has been largly benefited from huge funds from Croke park. Which no other county can avail of. HUGE support resources. Hence the SemiPro tag. I couldnt give a ***** if you come from ballygobackwards. Hows that for open mindedness? But sure it the mighty Dubs. All is well.

The game will be in Croker. And I'm glad it will be.

That's where I want us to beat them.

Absolutely its great to playing a different county. Its a brilliant novelty for us, i think it would be a packed Croker of this was attenable. I have a sneaky soft spot for Cavan to, proper football county. Cant remember the last time we played them in Croker - i think im right in saying when we played them most recently both league games were in Breffni certainly ive been there twice in the last five years - the last was - what turned out to be Paul Flynns last game for Dublin, i think it was dead rubber season before last.

Id say the GAA are kicking themselves, they have us and Mayo on different sides of the draw, huge money spinner going begging with the two biggest supported counties in the county all ready to descend on Corker for Semis.

Neither of the two semis would sell out if things were normal, you'd be lucky to have 60k at each game.

I'm on record as saying on this forum in recent weeks that Cavan have a formidable high ball game. We beat Down by sending in garryowens (sorry for the rugby terminology but you get what I'm saying) on top of their full back line (our penalty and a Tom Galligan mark are just two example that come to mind so that's 1-01 from the high ball).

Again, against Donegal, Madden's goal came from a high ball in on top of Patton and McGee that they fluffed. And Galligan picked up a scrap from a Donegal error and slotted one over. Again, another 1-01 from the high ball. There are more examples, but these just spring to mind.

The point I'm making is that we're not going to beat Dublin by running the ball into shooting positions. Dublin are too fast and strong to let you do that.

What I'd love to see is our lads sending high balls in on top of Madden and Galligan because we absoutely have the ability to cause Fitzsimons and those fellas big big problems if we do it.

I don't understand why other teams don't do this more often in fact. A 50/50 ball makes a 50/50 game.
