The rugby crowd can't enjoy a game without being fluttered-perfectly understandable. updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 915 - 20/11/2025 00:10:38 2645375 Link 1 |

Its the only way you could sit through 80 minutes of that stuff!

What in the name of god are you talking nonsense about. You think the people who serve you drink at CP or the Aviva are doing it for nothing? A job is a job no matter if it's a few hours a week or full time and these jobs benefit mainly students. Not sure what the reference to 'D4 people' is all about, I suppose you think only D4 people go to Rugby games...

I am sorry if I am anti Rugby. There is a really great match on in the Aviva on Saturday. Ireland play South Africa, the World champs. It should be a great match. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2691 - 20/11/2025 13:57:18 2645426 Link 0 |

Fully agree, attended one of those challenge matches lately, so boring, crowd chatting to each other and at least half them there to say they were, as a spectacle it's deteriorated considerably due to delays, tmo, 16 subs introduced throughout second half, first half lasted 50 mins, second prob longer but I left. Their prices are incredibly high, Sat match cheapest is €160!!

Just for clarity the cheapest for saturday were €50. €160 is a category A ticket which is basicaly permium and half way line. Looking froward to it. Won't indulge the challenge match bull comment lol thought it was only soccer heads who pretended to think that

Open your eyes and you will see. No they don't benefit mainly our students, they benefit mainly all but our own people because isn't it great to be seen that we're opening Croke Park up to everyone. Well no it isn't.

Yes, but also just for clarity, those €50 tickets were for restricted view, Category 4. The cheapest tickets for unrestricted view were €100. Also, Category 1 (it goes 1, 2, 3, 4 rather than A, B, C, D) is much more than just at halfway line. It's basically all of the lower deck of both East & West stands, and most of the upper decks. Category 2 was €150 for the South Africa match. Have a look at map here, and you'll see that between Category 1 (green) & Category 2 (red), probably 80% or more of tickets for Saturday's match were minimum €150 each: https://d19fc3vd0ojo3m.cloudfront.net/irfu/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/10100924/Aviva-Stadium-Map-Categories-scaled.jpg And I'm not part of the anti-rugby brigade, by the way. Used to regularly go to internationals before they became so expensive. Still go to see Leinster play a couple of times a year, because a family ticket is much more affordable. Could bring two adults & two children for the same cost as just one ticket for an international. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 3241 - 20/11/2025 16:38:44 2645446 Link 0 |

Oh right, we can't be having the 'foreigners' working and paying tax... god forbid that. What a pathetic take, it does show your true colours. Pathetic.

No one is forcing you to go to another, some of us enjoy the sport and respect it enough to actually watch the game and not leave early. And 160 is the dearest ticket, again no one is forced to pay it. One can easily stay at home or go to the pub and watch it.

Has to be said Rugby is my second favourite sport to watch and I played it for 16 years. I don't go to internationals either, or Leinster games, though, on account of the cost, I watch them on tv either at home or in the pub. I'd rather spend my hard earned bringing the 4 lads to hurling or football games.

I actively try not to buy in to this but I'm listening to the news right now. Sports come up and it's, republic of Ireland will play Czech Republic. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4038 - 20/11/2025 18:07:14 2645459 Link 1 |

What term so? Friendly? It's a non competitive match so is that not a challenge or a friendly?

Half the crowd therefore showed little or no respect between arriving late, constantly in and out to get alcohol, rushing out five mins before half time to get to the bar, back in late for second half and then a rush to the exits from the sixtieth minute.
