Dunloy claimed their first Ulster club senior hurling championship title in 13 years by dethroning Slaughtneil with a 2-12 to 0-16 victory at the Athletic Grounds this afternoon.

Two first-half goals proved critical for the Antrim champions in Armagh, as they went in at the break leading 2-6 to 0-7 and finished two-point victors in the end to secure their 11th Ulster senior crown.

The winners’ first goal came via an own goal from Slaughtneil goalkeeper Oisin O'Doherty and the second was a sweet strike by Nigel Elliott.

The Derry giants battled back brilliantly after the turnaround as points from Shane McGuigan, Barry Cassidy and Cormac O’Doherty (free) put the wind in their sails and they’d eventually draw level through Gerald Bradley in the 47th minute.

Dunloy steadied the ship again though through marksman Conal Cunning and held on as Slaughtneil saw wing-back Meehaul McGrath sent off in the late stages.

The victory ties the Cuchulainns club with fellow Glensmen Ruairi Og Cushendall for the most Ulster club SHC titles.
