Kyle Coney expects Darragh Canavan to nail down a place in Tyrone’s starting 15 in 2022.

Canavan was hampered by an ankle injury he sustained midway through last season in the Red Hands’ Allianz League defeat to Kerry in Killarney.

The young attacker would go on to feature in his county’s All-Ireland SFC final victory over Mayo and, speaking to Off The Ball, Coney expects him to have a big season for Tyrone provided he stays injury free.

"Darragh is a fabulous player, we've seen his cameos last year. He got injured throughout the campaign and didn't get to play as much as he would have wanted,” said the 2008 All-Ireland MFC winner.

"If he's not a starter by the middle of the year, I think it could materialise by the end of the year.

"There's a lot of similarities between him and Darren McCurry, they can both play inside and are kinky and can get their own scores.

"It's trying to fit all these attacking players into six positions, that's the problem Tyrone has."
