Rower-Inistioge 0-8

All-Ireland champions Ballyhale Shamrocks entered the Kilkenny senior hurling championship proper with guns blazing as they demolished Rower-Inistioge by 38 points in their first round clash at UPMC Nowlan Park this afternoon.

Ballyhale were in a different class to a Rower-Inistioge side who were short a host of regulars because of injury. Marksman TJ Reid led the route, scoring 1-16 while brothers Eoin and Brian Cody and Colin Fennelly also raised green flags.

The Cody's, who hit 2-7 between them, struck early goals en route to a 2-13 to 0-6 half-time lead and there was no let up after the resumption with the Reid's running riot.

In the second part of a first round double-header, Mullinavat defeated Danesfort 5-27 to 1-25 after extra-time, John Walsh scored 2-13 for the winners.
