Before the championship started I predicted Na Fianna to be relegated but now it looks like it will be a Kilbride and Simonstown relegation final. Seneschalstown have scored nearly twice as much as Simonstown in the group stages and should have points to spare at the end of the game. Na Fianna have not been taking as a big of hidings as Kilbride and should achieve their goal this year of keeping their senior status, avoiding the relegation final which I would have not expected pre championship. madmeath (Meath) - Posts: 120 - 12/09/2026 09:38:32 2693585 Link

Great win for Kilbride, refreshing to see them in the Championship. Na Fianna will need to give the next game everything, Rafferty will need to show his class - which, apparently, he did tonight. A lot of work to do from a Kilbride perspective, next year they'll be aiming to be competitive in the group stage, but they've had hard luck with injuries. St Pat's were my pre championship pick and I still think they'll do it, really impressive at the weekend. Massive test in 2 weeks though. Duleek with Armstong look a different animal, he adds exactly what they were missing. They won't last a minute playing senior football without him though. But they can win the intermediate championship for sure, and will beat Walterstown by about 15 points Castletown just haven't performed this year, seen them a few times and was never convinced they were the same team as last year. Two things that need addressing. 1) putting a surcharge of €5 for anyone without a ticket is a disgrace as this targets those who are just not up to speed with technology, ie the older supporters who have been the backbone of the gaa for decades. 2) fixing all Senior games for Dunganny is simply a grab for money with no regard for supporters , Dunganny was never intended to be a venue for matches and the lack of a bank for supporters means that if you don't get a spot at fence you see very little, add in the lack a time clock and a mickey mouse scoreboard and it is a joke. Great weekend of football just gone by. The intermediate championship is a great competition, no clear standout like the Dunshauglin or Trim teams of a few years ago. Any of the 4 remaining will fancy their chances however, I think the winner of Pats/O'Mahonys will win the final. In senior Ratoath/Dunshauglin was a good game at a good standard, the size and conditioning of the two teams stood out. Ratoath seem to be finding a way to win games this year and have been consistent in both league and championship. Wolf Tones/Rathkenny was a real championship game, conditions were atrocious but both teams battled it out until the end. The tackling from both teams was good and there was plenty of bite. Tones finished well, but Rathkenny will be sick and see this a real missed opportunity to get to a semi-final. Maybe the scare will stand to the Tones. As a previous poster said Dunganny is not fit for big championship games. There is zero shelter of any kind, and good viewing positions are limited to directly along the fence. A small stand like Oldcastle/Castletown or a mid level one like Ashbourne is surely not a lot to ask for a 'Centre of Excellence' Getting out of the carpark is also a disaster. I completely agree with you about the games in dunganny. It was bad enough playing almost of the group games there but playing both semi finals there is a disgrace. There is not enough capacity in dunganny for these games Simonstown can probably hold the most spectators in Meath at present and it looked fantastic on Sunday evening for Castletown against Walterstown. Ashbourne would probably be the next best for attendance numbers. I assume the tickets will sell out very quickly for dunganny. It doesn't make any sense to play it there" Well I'm one of those old Warriors, a pensioner I'm ok on the old tec , €33 inc fees for herself and myself into a senior game, we also went to an intermediate A game ( for 2nd teams of senior clubs or the forgotten teams in most people's eyes) and the lady on the gate told us it was €15 each but was embarrassed by what the co board had instructed to charge. She looked for €15 in total, we gave her €20 with instructions to pass it on to her clubs coffers ( by the way no concession for pensioners from our board) then I heard our neighbours Dublin changed €10 into Parnell park for their senior 1/4 finals double header , as for dundganny for the senior semi finals no way, bring Ratoath and donaghmore Ashbourne to dunsaughlin, and Summerhill and Wolfe tones to trim royler (Meath) - Posts: 306 - 22/09/2026 20:47:22 2694703 Link
lads can anyone tell me who picks the WeAreMeath TOTW? How did Adam McDonnell not get in? Some questionable mentions too. Ben Brennan from St.Colmcilles? He wasn't even their best player on the pitch. Sean Rafferty too, scored 2 nice points but the goal was a fluke and gave away the ball countless times not to mention the body language from most of the Na Fianna boys being poor.
