good win. Loads of positives and we need to be more clinical in the pass. O Sullivan was MOTM for his sheer work rate. With Biggy one wing and him on the other we will make significant progress. Newman showed well and Lenihan is going to have to up it significantly. Absolutely no reason why we cant beat Armaght and beat them well as it is vital we get off to a good start. Delighted for O Rourke, he has been poor up to this but his distribution was excellent. Most of his outlet was Finn who again was very good, if only he was 3 inches taller and i hope he can get away with as he has been the star find so far. pretender (Meath) - Posts: 358 - 25/01/2016 08:09:54 1818902 Link 0 |

Ye we could really use a settled team pretender, the problem is over the last few years we've had a rotten time with injuries and that makes a settled team impossible. Fingers crossed we're not dogged with injuries this year, cause if we are then it's going to be another short season. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 25/01/2016 10:05:55 1818918 Link 0 |
RD, I agree with you. I think Meath likely would have got over the line if Graham Reilly stayed on the field v Westmeath. Also not one person stood up on that day either. So that's a major worry. But I don't necessarily agree he is worth 3/4 5/6 points every game. He dose not do half enough work without the ball. And his tacking is poor. The last time we played Ardmagh in the league in Navan Reilly scored a brilliant point. Ardmagh took a quick kick out and the Reilly was slow to pick one his man. And Ardmagh went straight down scored a point later in this game I think he was taken off. Fast forward to Meath V Loais in this year's O'Byrne cup the exact same thing happens. So what is the point in scoring brilliant scores if your not prepared to track your man and do the hard work around the pitch. Team do video analysis these days these flaws rarely get missed. I live in hope that this year will be Graham Reilly year. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1284 - 25/01/2016 10:15:56 1818919 Link 0 |
Overall I thought it was a reasonably good 2nd half performance, really broke with pace and every attack looked dangerous. Some takeaways, without Reilly we would struggle for enough scores to win matches which is a big concern. Fair play for Longford for travelling in such numbers but the few beside me really were hard listening to, kept going on about the ref must be Sludden and the more the match went on the more nasty and bitter it got. If some of our forwards played with a bit more confidence we could manage without depending on reilly. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1839 - 25/01/2016 12:15:19 1818990 Link 0 |
Ahh he has been doing plenty of deposing with players. I do think the point is though he is worth 4/5 points per game, even the goal yesterday he was one fouled and played it quickly to Newman who eventually gave it to osullivan. Also I liked the fact That she he was penalised for a foul he went to linesman who agreed with him then went to ref and said I to him, next 50/50 tackle he got awarded a free, we have became far too nice, remember the days of Giles and geraghty always in refs ear. Made them think, not abusively just ahh ref he pulled my jersey etc etc. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 25/01/2016 14:25:37 1819078 Link 0 |
