O'Bryne Cup 2016

Ziggy, we could have Conor McGill back. After that it does look unlikely that Tobin will be back for next weeks game. Hopefully tomorrows game will bring on the new players a bit more and that should help ref the Armagh game. In fairness to MOD and the panel we weren't expecting dramatically better than this so I think we are in as good a position as we could have reasonably hoped for at this stage of the year. And, imo it is a positive that Ratoath have got as far as the did even though it is impacting on the county team.

Well since the fiasco with Carroll we dont have any recognisable cf same as cb with Menton gone. The team I guess is as strong as we have taking into account rathoth lads and injuries etc, so looks like they taking it seriously.
Wishing best of luck to players and management tomorrow, regardless of competition the first piece of silverware since 10 would be welcome.

It looks like Menton will be back for championship, but unlikely he will be back for the league.

Ziggy -Most of the newcomers in defence are as good if not better than what has been there- or what have you been watching over the last 2 -3 years?

Never too impressed with Carroll to be honest.

Royaldunne - Menton was someone I thought to be ideally suited to centre back but he actually played his worst football for the county when there. He's a huge loss, but as a wing back or emergency option at midfield.

As for Carroll, one swallow does not a summer make. He was superb against Kildare in 2012 but never repeated that level of form or came close to it. I know you're a Ballinabrackey man but your glasses are extremely rose tinted on this one.

Maybe after a year back with the club he'll have won an intermediate championship and be back to where he was that day in 2012.

I thought that Menton played all his club underage football right up to u21 in either MF or CF and MF in adult club football - I am open to correction!

Ahh jack , ill be honest there's more to Carroll and his performance than meets the eye, lot of behind the scenes stuff, that maybe he should have risen above . But that's for another day, he has the talent but he let dressing room stuff get in way, also while someone remains on sideline he will not return.

I've seen him a few times with the club and been impressed but I just feel he got a reputation based on one game v Mildare but never backed it up. And I wouldn't blame the man on the line, talent will shine through if the player is good and consistent enough regardless of who the manager is.

ive seen him play for Meath in Fitzsimons Cup, O'Byrne Cup and Championship and could count on one hand the no. of games I've been v. Impressed. Now if he could face Kildare every week .....

Agree with Jack

Carroll is a player that needs space to thrive and a lot of it.If a team plays a blanket defence he struggles to find a good delivery and decisions can be poor.He lacks intensity in his play and struggles to break away from challenges.

Disappointed Tobin was not started today as he was consistent over the competition ,although did fade out toward the end of each game.Longford will be coming to town with there tails well up and i dont expect this to be easy for us. Tormey is back and he was badly missed against louth who were almost let back in .

He was certainly in the top 3 or 4 forwards when analysing all the matches and very unlucky not to start. I would have played him CF.

They say it's a 20 man game these days and Tobin might serve us better in the 2nd half. Team probably picked with an eye to Armagh next week.

Good win,but proper test next weekend..

Anyone know why we are wearing the yellow jerseys every game?

Really good performances from Biggy, COS, Keoghan and Finn. Paddy's taking short kicks out now! Prefer it when they are directed out the wings rather than down the centre (double anxious). Longford may have been complacent after their Dublin victory last week. We need not do likewise ahead of the Armagh game. Bigger squad to choose from next weekend after today's club results, so that is something of a bonus, depending on your club affiliations. Anyway, well done lads, ye worked/fought hard and got your reward - proud of ye all. Is there a trophy cabinet in Dunganny?

Easier to spot a player in bright gold than dark green this time of year. Good job the game didn't start at 3pm or we would have needed floodlights today. I even enjoyed the second half of the hurling match beforehand.
