Meath Clubs In Leinster 2025

Senior hurling champions are still TBD but all other championships are done and dusted which means the respective winners are now preparing to represent Meath in the various Leinster championships. Summerhill are up against Killoe Young Emmets in Longford on Sunday week (November 2nd). Killoe Young Emmets beat O'Mahonys in Leinster in 2012 and in 2016 so hopefully Summerhill don't befall the same fate. If they win that tie, they probably would have been expecting to face Naas but they were beaten by Athy yesterday in the Kildare final. It'd be either them or Baltinglass of Wicklow in the quarter finals if they get over the Longford champions. The winner of the senior hurling final replay will have two weeks to prepare for an away Leinster Intermediate quarter final against Wicklow senior champions, Carnew Emmets on November 8th. The Wicklow champions beat Ratoath last year and Trim in the 2022 final. Kilkenny champions, Danesfort, are on the other side of the draw. A win in that game would mean a Leinster semi final against Lusmagh of Offaly or Ballyfin of Laois. Kilbride are away to Longford opponents as well on Saturday week. They'll travel to Pearse Park to play Ardagh Moydow in round 1 on Saturday week (November 1st). Win that, and it's a home tie against either Sallins of Kildare or the Carlow Intermediate champions Ballon or Grange (they'll replay their final next week). Clann na nGael face Kilkenny Intermediate champions, Glenmore in Navan on Saturday week (November 1st). The Kilkenny champions have got the odd win in Leinster over the years so hopefully CnG don't take it lightly. A match away to Carlow junior champions, Fighting Cocks, will await them in the quarter final should they come through their round 1 tie. Finally, for some reason, the Intermediate hurling champions are no longer in the Leinster Junior club championship, but have been shunted into a new Leinster Special Junior club championship along with the Wicklow Intermediate champions, the Longford senior champions and the European representatives. Not sure what the reasoning behind that was, but regardless, Kilskyre/Moylagh will play Amsterdam in that semi final on November 8th. They'd face either Aughrim or Longford Slashers in the final if they win that. The way they've performed, you'd expect that they should be winning that championship which would hopefully mean that next season's champions would be back in the Junior championship proper in 2026. Best of luck to all the Meath representatives in their Leinster championships. Hope the celebrations are out of their system and there can be potentially more silverware for at least some clubs before the end of the year. Here was me thinking that the Leinster GAA website got the Intermediate winner wrong. Pity that Kilskyre/Moylagh can't participate. Presumably they would have been able to compete before Moylagh came under the Kilskyre umbrella. It depends on whether the club is a full amalgamation where 2 clubs become 1 (e.g. when Duleek & Bellewstown merged), or if it's still 2 seperate clubs who field as 1 together (which is the case with Moylagh/Kilskyre). If I remember correctly, Moylagh hurlers were operating at a lower level than Kilskyre when the amalgamation happened and the amalgamation stayed at Intermediate when it went ahead which was why I phrased it the way I did. Yes, Moylagh had also dropped to junior previously before winning it. Again, there was no offence intended whatsoever with the phrasing. I reckon they didn't do a full amalgamation as kilskyre as a hurling club only wanted to keep their 3 votes at county board as Moylagh as a football club also retained their 3 votes. Oldcastle historically would have rowed in with Moylagh but rarely provided large volumes due to it being a big football town. I believe they supplied two players to the starting team last weekend and Moylagh a further two. I wouldn't see it being hugely different to Ratoath for example, having players available from other non-hurling neighbouring clubs. It is a huge area, which is a problem (travel time for parents etc) and you are correct that there are a number of football clubs that have involvement. If Kells as the largest town can't be bothered with promoting hurling then it needs K/M and Tones to pick up the demand of those areas but not a lasting solution. Will be interesting to see how K/M go in senior B. Big jump up as others have found but less daunting with the new structure. Frayne and Adam Mcdonnell showed lots of class. Good bit of depth and experience coming off the bench too, I'd nearly have the Athy game as a 50 50 chance, They'll be hard bet as will Kilbride and Clan na Gael in their games. McCabe and Ryan in half forward line excellent. Eoghan Frayne looked to be moving very well again. Three week break probably did him good. Adam McDonnell his usual industrious self around the middle. Great first weekend for the football champions with all three winning. Though you'd expect much tougher challenges will await. Athy dethroned Naas and hammered Baltinglass today so Summerhill will need to start better than they did today if they're to have a chance. Sallins are up next for Kilbride and I think they're odds on favourites to win Leinster. Have no idea about Fighting Cocks of Carlow who are next up for Clann na nGael. Really disappointing result for Rathmolyon. They were leading for most of the game against Amsterdam but were pipped at the death. Ratoath travelling to Offaly to play Lusmagh in the semi finals after beating Carnew Emmets of Wicklow by 10. Carnew played the last 15 minutes with 14 men.
