Senior hurling champions are still TBD but all other championships are done and dusted which means the respective winners are now preparing to represent Meath in the various Leinster championships. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1447 - 20/10/2025 12:18:29 2640785 Link 0 |

Kilskyre/moylagh as an independent team and not a club in there own right won't be representing Meath in Leinster . I think !!

I think its Rathmoylan who will repesent meath in that competition as Kilskyre/Moagh are barred as they are an amalgamation. They Still should have enough to win it. Islander21 (Meath) - Posts: 34 - 20/10/2025 15:29:38 2640832 Link 0 |

Here was me thinking that the Leinster GAA website got the Intermediate winner wrong. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1447 - 20/10/2025 16:03:28 2640841 Link 0 |

I doubt Moylagh would appreciate you dismissing them as being "under the Kilskyre umbrella". It's a joint team fielded by 2 clubs.

How does this work with some of the Laois clubs? loads of amalgamations down through the years.

It depends on whether the club is a full amalgamation where 2 clubs become 1 (e.g. when Duleek & Bellewstown merged), or if it's still 2 seperate clubs who field as 1 together (which is the case with Moylagh/Kilskyre).

No offence intended. If I remember correctly, Moylagh hurlers were operating at a lower level than Kilskyre when the amalgamation happened and the amalgamation stayed at Intermediate when it went ahead which was why I phrased it the way I did.

https://www.hoganstand.com/county/meath/article/index/231657 They were both Intermediate in 2015, and joined up in 2016. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1707 - 23/10/2025 09:22:16 2641199 Link 0 |

Yes, Moylagh had also dropped to junior previously before winning it. Again, there was no offence intended whatsoever with the phrasing. Given that Kilskyre/Moylagh are not competing in Leinster, don't think there's any point in wasting any more time on it.

Are there other clubs providing players to Kilskyre/Moylagh? I think players from Oldcastle and perhaps even Drumbaragh involved. Good for North Meath Hurling but it seems to cover a very large area. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 846 - 23/10/2025 16:33:40 2641288 Link 1 |

I reckon they didn't do a full amalgamation as kilskyre as a hurling club only wanted to keep their 3 votes at county board as Moylagh as a football club also retained their 3 votes. numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 373 - 23/10/2025 19:46:38 2641304 Link 0 |

On paper yes, but in reality there might be one from Drumbaragh in the extended panel. Oldcastle historically would have rowed in with Moylagh but rarely provided large volumes due to it being a big football town. I believe they supplied two players to the starting team last weekend and Moylagh a further two. I wouldn't see it being hugely different to Ratoath for example, having players available from other non-hurling neighbouring clubs. With hurling being a minority sport in Meath, it's important that players with an appetite to play are given such opportunities. The_Ripper (Meath) - Posts: 186 - 24/10/2025 10:29:35 2641351 Link 0 |

It is a huge area, which is a problem (travel time for parents etc) and you are correct that there are a number of football clubs that have involvement. If Kells as the largest town can't be bothered with promoting hurling then it needs K/M and Tones to pick up the demand of those areas but not a lasting solution. Will be interesting to see how K/M go in senior B. Big jump up as others have found but less daunting with the new structure. It should give them a bump in interest though in the locality. off_the_wall (Roscommon) - Posts: 79 - 24/10/2025 11:33:36 2641361 Link 0 |

Best of luck to Summerhill, Kilbride, Clann na nGael and Royal Gaels this weekend! All three men's teams would be big favourites but it'd take some performance from Royal Gaels against Kilmacud to make the final. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1447 - 31/10/2025 22:02:37 2642436 Link 0 |

The Meath Sennior champions with the best performance of their best performance to date, very impressive around the middle. Athy in most likely newbridge in two weeks time!! Let's hope they can make a deep run into Leinster Faithfulmeath (Meath) - Posts: 34 - 02/11/2025 15:08:02 2642646 Link 0 |

Agreed that was a great performance, thought Adam Flanagan dominated. Frayne and Adam Mcdonnell showed lots of class. Good bit of depth and experience coming off the bench too, I'd nearly have the Athy game as a 50 50 chance, They'll be hard bet as will Kilbride and Clan na Gael in their games.

Summerhill very good once they got into their stride. McCabe and Ryan in half forward line excellent. Eoghan Frayne looked to be moving very well again. Three week break probably did him good. Adam McDonnell his usual industrious self around the middle. Athy will be a great test against a good team away but if Newbridge not so far for Summerhill.

Great first weekend for the football champions with all three winning. Though you'd expect much tougher challenges will await. Athy dethroned Naas and hammered Baltinglass today so Summerhill will need to start better than they did today if they're to have a chance. Sallins are up next for Kilbride and I think they're odds on favourites to win Leinster. Have no idea about Fighting Cocks of Carlow who are next up for Clann na nGael. Really disappointing result for Rathmolyon. They were leading for most of the game against Amsterdam but were pipped at the death. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1447 - 08/11/2025 19:39:14 2643557 Link 0 |
