The player that stood out the most for me was Matt Costello. A few times Meath were under pressure, and he was the stood up and was ice cool when we needed it the most - whether it was just kicking a point, or taking the right option, he was crucial for us this year.

Jack O'Connor, Conor Gray, Donal Keoghan, Jack Flynn, Sean Brennan all were brilliant throughout the TC too. But I think Costello just has that X Factor and he'll be key for us over the next couple of years.

It's an interesting one when you think of the big overhaul in the starting team and even the panel from the start of the league, I don't think there is one clear favourite. That in itself says a lot about the team that the success of the Tailteann Cup has been a real group effort. Some fine performances in the TC from James McEntee, Jordan Morris, Conor Gray, Flynn, Coffee and young Brennan in goals. I'd give it to one of Keogan or Costello who were our most consistent performers all year. Worthy mention to Padraig Harnan who has quietly gone about his business and played a big if unheralded role in our last 3-4 games.

Easily Ronan Jones. He showed up on many's a day when no-one else did. I thought Costello has been very consistent all year too and is developing into a real leader on the pitch.

Intercounty Player of the year for me is Adam O'Neill. He had an untidy TC final, but was one of the real finds and maintained a high level in most games.
Id be going for Sean Coffey all day if it was based on TC alone, but A O'N did it all through the difficult league games as well. I expect that many will go for Matthew Costello, based on the league and TC, and i would agree with that too. But we were in need of real solid defenders, and A O'N was just the antidote to that issue.

Matt Costello, has developed into a top player and onfield leader on consistant basis from start of season.

I'd have to go for either Keogan or Costelloe based on the full year, but certainly very worthy claims for Jones too and I agree that O'Neill and Morris have a shout too as does Harnan who played a significant part in the TC success, Gray and Flynn will undoubtedly be getting this award in the future based on what I've seen this year but for 2023 I'll go with Costelloe.

One of the more over rated players i can remember. His skills such as kicking really let him down. He plays midfield but cant field a ball. He's not on the same level as Conor Gray and Jack Flynn.

Yeh Full credit to Keogan and Harnan for sticking in when needed in the trenches .They at times set the bar for younger players as does Jones when fit. Gray,Flynn and O Connor show great promise also. I go for Costello however if choice has to be made for versatility and his apparent ability to read and lead. To me he is a midfielder perhaps who is adaptable and play any role. When opposition becomes stronger we will learn more of course about all players when all variables also come into play

I'm not saying he is our best footballer. He's not. But he consistently showed up. Even on some of our worst days this year. Jack Flynn and Conor gray have a higher ceiling but they are just getting started And didn't even play half the year.

Can't get onboard the Matthew Costello train just yet. Undoubtedly a serious prospect but find he tends to drift in and out of games including on Saturday, and that consistency will come with experience. For consistency when Meath were struggling this year, Donal Keoghan was again the man. Never seems to have a bad game. I know he has gotten it before but that shouldn't be a consideration. Various players had good years/games but Keoghan again was the standout. Really hope he gives it one more year with this group.

Very hard to single out anyone really as it was almost a three part season.

League Campaign
Championship
T.C

I probably too would go with Ronan Jones, showed a bit of fight against the Dubs and was solid in T.C.

Would not be handing out Player of the year awards to young lads just yet.

I need to see consistency next year now from these lads who have come in and I believe they will step up.

Still not sold on JM & AL inside, they will struggle against the better organised teams and that was even evident last week.

Would love to see Shane W , Jack C and Joey return to panel next year to ignite more challenges for places.

Nothing against the two lads, they give their best but just lacking that bit of extra class.

Just my opinion.

Matthew Costello for me I think stood up the most when we needed it and showed leadership. Ronan Ryan definitely deserves his credit too at full back
