I must admit fellow lads and lassies, Im finding it hard to get excited for this match. The term "dead rubber" is thrown around a lot and I think for good reason in the case of Rd.3 of the Super 8's. One has to imagine the Cork/Roscommon match will have a similar and equally laborious build-up. This Meath team have had a very fruitful 2019 and I believe with the right guidance and training, and the right selection between now and the mid-2020s, that the panel can only improve and get stronger. There are variables to that possibility though and the county must tread very carefully and make effort to consolidate our progress achieved this year. The turnaround has been huge, perhaps too huge. This match has a one-off feel. Kerry are the golden boys of the GAA. Always will be. The romantics. One of the big issues the GAA has always faced over Kerry is that they don't travel. Traditionally they played one or two games in Munster and then boom, straight to Croker for the Qtr. Final. This is uncharted territory for them. Navan to them may as well be Malaysia. Its a tight, rustic, old-school venue that should be filled with passionate and vocal local fans. Kerry are also a very young side and theyre relatively reliant on two or three youngsters. They have nothing to gain in this match. Not saying we'll win but these are factors that Meath must use to their advantage. Its a very interesting match-up. I hope the old Pairc Tailteann gets sent off in style and there is no better fixture in championship football than Kerry. It'll also be an enjoyable game, relatively free of cynicism and negativity. My point was in relation to what the expected capacity would be. The health and a safety review a few years ago cut the capacity down on the basis that the grass banks were unsafe. Totally agree ! This is the game of the championship for me ,even though it's a dead rubber for us. And I expect them to overrun us by 8-10 points . However to host the kings of football and their galaxy of stars in park T ,is a huge thing for us . I hope a good meath support turn up to create a bit of atmosphere as I doubt too many from Kerry will travel . I would like to see some of the subs play in this game from the start especially Mickey Burke. Dardis , Kane should be ok after injury , Campion, McGovern , S Curran Flanagan etc have been in and out all Championship games and like the main starters have give an awful lot to Meath all year and deserve a start. I hope Kerry come with a full strength team - and we play our full strength team - I really want to see how the much vaunted Kerry full forward line do against our full back line. I think McGill, Lavin and Gallagher have been fantastic this year and I think the Kerry full forward line have been really talked up! Should be a great battle! Would like to see a few changes to starting team, not because lads are not playing well, but I think if we go with same starting 15 as in last two games we can expect same result, competitive for 55/60 minutes then get overun as backs become exhausted. I actually can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading on this! People talking about making 6/7 changes and giving lads who haven't played all year a token gesture run out! We are playing Kerry for the first time at home in a championship match imcase some people haven't realised that. Meath will be putting out there strongest possible team and will give it 100% to give themselves a chance of replicating the performances against Mayo and Donegal and hopefully be in contention to get something from the game. 1. Brennan 2. Ryan 3. McGill 4. Gallagher 5. Keogan 6. Harnan 7. McCoy 8. Menton 9. Devine 10. Campion 11. McMahon 12. J McEntee 13. O'Sullivan 14. Walsh 15. Conlan This is assuming Newman and Lavin aren't fit, if they are I would imagine they will both play but really can't see Newman making it even if it's a minor pull you wouldn't risk it. I would like to see Kane, Dardis, Thomas o reilly get some good game time.
