Do you think the match will go ahead on Saturday???."
I think there had to be a doubt, conditions are worse further north of the county tonight around Letterkenny, Ballybofey etc, a good pointer would be to keep an eye on the Donegal Weather Channel, they are on Facebook if you have that medium and have their own website with latest videos of conditions around the county and regular updates, his forecasts are never too far off the mark and he would be well worth watching in the coming days particularly the Facebook page is you have access

Well a good bit of thewhite stuff in Westmeath this morning, so if it's worse the further north you go, I'm seriously concerned that this match will take place. Tonight is to be the coldest night since the beast from the east.

I know this is probably the wrong thread, but I was just wondering about a few absent players who I thought would be part of panel
Harry Rooney (assume he fell out with Mcentee?)
Brian Power
Cathal Finn
Brian Conlon
Alan Forde

Harry Rooney (assume he fell out with Mcentee?) no falling out, just doesn't feel he can commit to the training schedule,

Brian Power? Don't know what the story is there.
Cathal Finn, don't know
Brian Conlon, don't know
Alan Forde, well after the injury was expecting him bac but certainly nothing to do with Andy as he was singing his praises last time I heard him speak and wasn't he part of backroom team last year while still recovering. The one player I think who could really add something to the panel. So would love him back

If I was to name team I'd make two changes to the starting team. O'Sullivan in for burke and Reilly in for O'Reilly. Think donegal might struggle with a running game that is purpose for the two changes only , run at them early and put up a good score. Also long range point takers could be order of the day if donegal reverts to type, for this biggie is one of the best in country along with Newman we can shake their confidence with a few long range scores. And rattle them early. Now this is assuming both O'Sullivan and Reilly have 70 mins in them. Otherwise holding them back might be better. It's hard to know

Saw the Sigerson match last night between DIT and UCD - Power played at full back - did reasonably okay but went off injured - DIT conceded a couple of goals after he went off!

James Conlon played too - was well marshalled and fairly easily handled by UCD. Mind you UCD were way better!

I think it'll be grand. Unless there is further snow overnight I think Ballybofey will be ok. The forecast is giving it to be a wee bit milder as well. Just be very careful driving through the Gap (the stretch of road between Donegal Town and Ballybofey). It can often be a micro climate. Roads can be grand everywhere else but in the Gap can be lethal. Leave that wee bit earlier and drive safely. Looking forward to a good tussle.

Cold very very cold, dropped to -7 at one stage last night, think the forecast is more for severe frost and ice more than snow until Sunday, should be ok but travelling conditions could be hazourdous, certainly anyone travelling should give serious consideration to staying up here Saturday night instead of driving back in icy conditions

Would a lot of Meath people not be travelling via Ardee, Monaghan Omagh etc not having to worry about the gap which I am sure will be welltreated anyway.

I would agree with you on that. I expect most of the traffic would be going via Monaghan/Omagh with some via Enniskillen (I expect that would be RoyalDunnes route). There are good hotels locally and quite a few in Donegal Town-good part of the country for entertainment. Wish everyone a safe journey and a good result.

Enniskillen was my normal route but being in the southern end of the county it was handier for me to head down by Pettigoe, Kesh etc. Loads of hotels lads there's no shortage and I know a few that are staying in Jackson's beside the pitch, loads of very decent accomodation and very decent pubs here in Glenties too (only about half hour from Ballybofey) and Donegal Town the same. Anyway latest update is that the pitch is good....

Thanks for that. Yeah I'll travel up a bit earlier than I would normally.

Unfortunately have a event to attend on Sunday morning at 10, so will be traveling back. Mightn't get back till about 1 am. As I'll be taking it very easy. My route will be through Sligo.

Yeah that will more than likely be my route or maybe Sligo. Trying to figure out which has better road , up into bundoran donegal town ballybofey? Or through Enniskillen?? Ie which of these roads would be gritted. Bringing 12 yo daughter with me, just don't want to take any risks. Particularly traveling back on these roads quite late
