We need a half forward line of at least a player or 2 who can get in and fight for breaking ball. Not sure about that half forward line in that regard.

Not a bad side and probably not a million miles off what we will see. There won't be massive changes from last year, and nor should there be. A team should evolve rather than suddenly change, so a maximum of 3-4 changes from year to year would be normal.
the forward line there has 6 out and out forwards in it which I can't see working. You need at least 1 and probably 2 workhorses in the half forward line who can drop back and defend when we don't have the ball. Effectively half backs who can also get forward, rather than out and out half forwards. Probably either Forde or James McEntee or possibly even both, with graham Reilly and o'sullivan Playing as half forwards, and lenehan and Thomas o'reilly In the full forward line.
But that is for later in the year. We hopefully will see plenty of new faces getting their chance in the o'byrne Cup.

not trying to have a go here Graham but there's no way we can go with that half forward line. 10 and 11 are far too lazy to be played there and having both in the same line just won't work. You need one workhorse in the HF line and for me I'd start James McEntee here every day of the week.

I've never been a fan of both Graham and Cillian together. I feel one of them has to be in close to goal if they are both in the team. They're just too similar to play in the same line.

Yeah Fair point..I do like James Mcentee and he certainly could slot in at half forward..Hopefully we can unearth a few gems in the O"Byrne cup and league campaign

Can't have a team without our best player this year, burke MUST start. Also I'd play forde and James mcenetee. O'Sullivan was a slight let down this year but has the potential to be great, so worth another go. I'd drop Newman and move Reilly into ff, but with the intent of playing further out between 2 man ff line of mckeaver and lenihane/ oreilly and roving half forwards

I'd give Burke a rest for O'Byrne. O Sullivan is top class but Andy needs to get more from him. Prefer lenihan on the 40

I know burke divides people, but I love his attitude, he just keeps on going. For me that makes up for other little quirks. That I know he has.

Some players I'd like to see get some game time in the OBC who have a realistic chance of playing now in the league

Burlingham, mckeever and Kane (Simonstown)
Thomas O Reilly (tones)
David Toner (curraha)
Seamus Lavin and Cathal Finn (Dunboyne)
Mattimoe (Kells)

Burlingham and Kane were not asked in to join the panel as far as I know. Mattimoe was on the panel all last year, suffered with injuries early on in the year but think he might have made the bench in one game but that was about it. Don't know if he went back in to training for next year. Didn't stand out in the Kells games I was at this year.

No. I was responding to grahammc.
Who I think with our past debates would probably be last person to like any comment I make. While we might seldom agree on anything, I do respect that he wants what's best for Meath football, even if I do not agree with what he thinks is best way of getting results.
. Read full thread, he responded to me re burke I responded to him. , start from top and read down. Good lad. Furthermore I don't go for the thumbs up down thing as I find it childish. I prefer to either agree with follow up post or disagree, rather than hiding behind a ridiculous up down thing. I prefer people know what I think.
