Breen, Joe

Joe Breen, Kilcloon/Kilawley, Co. Fermanagh
It was with great sadness that Blackhall Gaels learned of the passing of Joe Breen. Always a gentleman, kind hearted, softly spoken and highly respected, his loss will be felt deeply by all who were privileged to know him.
For the last 20 years Joe has been unreservedly committed to the development of the ladies' section of the club; he has been the team mentor, selector, club chairperson and county board representative. He worked tirelessly on the county board executive and was involved with the management of the Senior Ladies County team for a time too.
It was under his tutelage along with John Maye and Jane Keane that BHG Ladies enjoyed their greatest successes, winning the Junior B title in 2000, Junior A title in 2001, Intermediate title in 2003 and being Senior Finalists in 2004. John and Joe were a winning combination and their personalities, interest in the game and the well-being of the team, contributed hugely to our success. Meetings, phone-calls, texts, booking training venues, organising matches, travel arrangements, are just a few of the many tasks Joe undertook and always with a smile on his face.
Even after Joe finished his ten year tenure in management, there was rarely a match, meeting or even a training session where Joe did not make an appearance, always supporting and encouraging and happy to have a chat.
Joe was a proud member of the grounds committee and was instrumental in the completion of the developments works over the last number of year at our Kilcloon grounds.
Joe was a true Gael and will be sorely missed by all.
The Club would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Teresa, daughters Denise, Sinead, and Michelle, and all his extended family and friends.
