Dunshaughlin 0-27 Simonstown 2-12

Dunshaughlin sent out a warning shot to all would be Keegan Cup title contenders with this impressive win over Simonstown on Pitch 6 at Devenish Park Dunganny.

Richie Kealy’s men were in control throughout and were 0-13 to 1-4 in front at the break. Mathew Costello and the outstanding Aaron Murphy got the scoreboard working for the winners. The Black & Ambers were pegged back when Simonstown keeper Ben Hoey converted a penalty. From there on it was all the 2024 champions. Murphy finished the half with another five points and along with excellent scores from Conor Duke, Colm Keane, Tadgh O Dushláine and Costello Dunshaughlin went in at the break six points in front.

The winners extended that lead to 10 with unanswered points from Keane, Murphy, Duke and John McDonagh in the opening ten minutes of the second half and with ten minutes to go they were 0-23 to 1-11 in front. Corner forward Shane McEnery kept the Navan side in the game with three excellent two pointers. Costello, McDonagh and Murphy completed the winners scoring before Hoey converted a second penalty to put a better completion on the scoreboard.

Next up for the winners are Donaghmore Ashbourne while Simonstown turn their attion to Gaeil Colmcille.
