FL Div 4: First win for Nobber

April 08, 2026

Nobber's Sean Meade

Nobber 2 – 14 (20) St Ultans 0 – 13 (13)

Nobber got their first win of their Division 4 A League campaign on Tuesday night last in an entertaining game played in ideal spring conditions under lights in Nobber to a sizeable crowd. Spectators were treated to an exciting game of football where the black and ambers put in their best performance of the 2026 campaign so far proving too strong for St Ultans on the night.

Fresh from his scoring spree in a recent A League Division 11 encounter against Kilmainhamwood, full forward Lorcan McEntee was fast out of the blocks and converted an impressive goal into the O’Carolan College end of the ground to show that the Nobber men meant business. Sean Meade was one of the standout performers on the evening and he started off the game brightly with a fine point and then followed this up with a well taken goal. The Deesiders were creating lots of scoring opportunities and these were taken by the energetic wingback Kian Donohoe who kicked a fine point. Donohoe showed good work rate throughout the evening – locals might argue if only the same could be said about his performances in the local Daybreak shop in the village. Further scores from Meade and corner forward Dale Larkin left Sean Carolans’s charges in front at the break.

Half-time score – Nobber 2 – 6 (12) St Ultans 0 – 7 (7)

The third quarter arguably seen a slight shift in momentum of the game with St Ultans creating more scoring opportunities than Nobber. Had they converted more of their chances the game may have been different. The Nobber defence stood firm with full back Eanna Fagan using his strength and experience to make life difficult for his opponents. Rumours were circulating around the ground that Farmer Fagan drove his tractor up the M3 to O’Connell Street in Dublin City Centre and was involved in the protests the day of the game. It is unknown whether he left his tractor outside GPO. Goalkeeper Dary Hutchinson made a crucial save leading into the final 10 minutes to prevent a certain goal for the Bohermeen/Martry side. Hutchinson remained steady throughout the evening and put in a key performance.

Karl Casserly was introduced in the second half and used his experience and guile to help Nobber bring home the two points on offer – Casserly had plenty of energy so the stag must have been a quiet affair enjoying visiting fine restaurants, beautiful museums and castles and some retail therapy in the local shopping centres in Edinburgh.

Further scores in the second half from centre forward Meade who was too hot to handle on the night for his opponents, Larkin once again and Lorcan McEntee with a fine score into the village end goals to conclude the scoring for the black and ambers on the evening.

Next up for Nobber is an away fixture against Bective on Sunday, April 19.
