A delighted Tom Shine celebrates after Kilskyre/Moylagh's win over Rathmolyon in the IHC final at Pairc Tailteann

Kildalkey and Kilskyre/Moylagh made home with the silverware today at a wet Pairc Tailteann.

The opening game saw 2023 IHC winners Kildalkey defeat Wolfe Tones in the Intermediate B final. Lee Coldrick gave the winners a great start with a goal in the opening five minutes. Nick Fitzgerald’s men held a 2-9 to 0-5 lead as half time approached but a goal from Thomas O’Connor gave Wolfe Tones some hope heading to the dressing room.

By the end of the third quarter the Tones had the lead reduced to two thanks to the accuracy of Eanna Harrington from frees. Ryan Byas sent over Kildalkey first score of the second half after 16 minutes and further scores from Matt Cully, Coldrick and James Cully gave the Village a 2-14 to 1-11 victory.

The eagerly awaited Intermediate final lived up to expectation. A Willie McGrath goal inside the opening ten minutes gave Kilskyre/Moylagh a 1-6 to 0-6 interval advantage. The North Meath combination were dealt a blow on the 17th minute with the sending off of half back Eoin Briody.

Powered by the Shine twins and the speed of Darren O’Higgins Kilskyre Moylagh, despite been a man down, dominated most of the second half. That goal still separated the teams after 45 minutes. McGrath (2) and Tom Shine pointed before O’Higgins was in for his teams second goal and the Mick Leonard Cup was heading north on a 2-14 to 0-12 scoreline.
