Two goals in the last five minutes propelled holders DCU Dochás Éireann to a 4-8 to 0-8 victory over University of Galway in last night's All-Ireland Fresher Division 1 football final at DCU.

Shaun Ward, Ryan Sinkey and Liam Flynn combined for 3-6 as the Dublin students completed the first leg of a potential hurling / football double (they face UL in the hurling final next week).

Ward's goal helped the winners to a 1-5 to 0-3 interval lead before Eoin Drysdale added another after the restart. University of Galway enjoyed lots of possession but couldn't make it count on the scoreboard. In contrast, DCU were much more efficient and sealed a flattering win with late majors from Sinkey and Flynn.
