Kilskyre/Moylagh 2-19  Killyon 1-12

It was long overdue and well-earned victory for Kilskyre Moylagh v Killyon in Athboy last Saturday in round two of the Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Having faced defeats throughout the Division 2 league campaign this year followed by a defeat be it a gutsy performance in the rescheduled 2020 promotion/relegation play-off with Trim and then a round one championship opening defeat against a very strong Kildalkey side, it has not been easy for the north Meath hurling side.

With a slight breeze in their favour Kilskyre Moylagh came out of the blocks with full intent, not letting the opportunity of a win out of their sight. A string of points and a well-executed goal from Willie McGrath got the tails up and there was no looking back.  Killyon struggled to make any sort of impact by half time. with a mean back seven from Kilskyre Moylagh that looked sick and tired of their losing streak.

The second half will be of concern for Kilskyre Moylagh moving forward in this years campaign losing it 1-9 to 0-8 despite solid performances from Sean Tunney, Ciaran Hannon and Jamie Casserly upfront there was a lot of wasted opportunities and that’s something they will need to address.
