Sad to report the death of Meath and Kilmessan hurling legend John Curtis. He was 81 years of age and from a great GAA famly.

John won a grand total of eight senior hurling championship medals in the blue of Kilmessan. He also lined out for the county during the sixties and early seventies, winning All Ireland junior and NHL medals in the process.

A brilliant athlete, John Curtis was also a noted runner but still found time to pull on the other royal blue jersey, that of neighbours Skryne from just across the main road. He was a regular performer at senior level for the Skryne footballers and a Kilmessan Club President during 2019.

Predeceased by his son Padraic, John is survived by his wife Anne, daughters Valerie, Suzanne and Martina and sons Jonathan and Christopher.

His Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday morning (Christmas Eve) at the Church of the Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary, Kilmessan at 12noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
