Tyrone great Sean Cavanagh has brought the curtain down on his glittering football career.

The 40-year-old former Footballer of the Year made his final appearance for his beloved Moy Tír na nÓg as a second half substitute in their Tyrone Division 1 / 2 promotion-relegation play-off defeat to Coalisland last weekend. Cavanagh had taken over as player-manager midway through the season and oversaw an improvement in their fortunes as they narrowly missed out on promotion back to Division 1.

The Sunday Game pundit retired from Tyrone duty in 2017 with three All-Ireland SFC medals, five Ulster SFC medals and five Allstars to his name. He also captained Ireland in their 2008 International Rules series victory over Australia and won an All-Ireland Club IFC title with Moy in 2018.
