Connolly's late goal sees Nemo edge Cork SFC thriller
Luke Connolly of Nemo Rangers celebrates scoring his side's goal

Luke Connolly struck a superb injury-time goal as Nemo Rangers overcame Castlehaven by 3-13 to 1-16 in yesterday evening’s Bon Secours Cork SFC second round clash.

The two sides served up a cracker in the hot conditions in Ahamilla, where an early Connolly penalty and a goal from Kevin Fulignati steered Nemo towards a 2-9 to 1-6 half-time lead.

Castlehaven hit their purple match after the turnaround that saw Brian Hurley, Michael Hurley and Robbie Minihane helping them sail over five points without reply.

A Mark Cronin free stemmed the tide for the 2020 champions and the scoreboard would read 2-12 to 1-15 in the first minute of injury-time when Connolly broke through and rifled to Castlehaven’s net.

The former Cork ace added a free shortly afterwards before Brian Hurley posted a consolation free just before the final whistle sounded.
