Atrocious Playing Conditions. - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Gaa Fan:  "I watched a number of games which were played in Munster last Weekend. The playing conditions were atrocious. Downpours and gale force winds. In Kerry I saw David Clifford unable to score a point from play. In another game I saw a player unable to kick the ball over from the 20 metre line. In the Cork hurling final it was difficult to make out the players at times. It is obvious the County Boards have no respect for the players, or their safety, or for the supporters. I commend the players for their behavior under such trying conditions. Shame on the GAA."
I agree, with the money in the GAA and county boards these days to think no one in charge has the foresight to put a roof over the West Coast from Oct to March is embarrassing.

Amateur Sport, actually any sport, should be a distraction from life, not someones entire life.

I remember watching a minor final in Birmingham at Páirc na hÉireann a few years ago, a bloke getting the anthem up on You Tube on his phone and handing it over to yer man for him to hold it up to the microphone, it played a 20 sec ad at the start.

Replying To Breffni40:  "Every one of us has been referred to as "they" thousands of times. Yet now if you ask to be referred to as they its's woke madness? People have reasons to be uncomfortable being referred to as he or she and I personally don't understand why people would be so rude/cruel to insist on doing it. Trans people live a tough life by all accounts and metrics, I'm not here to add to their suffering. Some people revel in it. There are different gender roles in many different cultures today and all through history. Each to their own. Trans rights are human rights."
Fair enough but this thing of people adding he/him to their email signatures and some employers expecting everyone to do the same is a type of social engineering, although very slight. More and more suppliers I deal with at work have started this, a bald fella with a beard having to add he/him to make a minuscule amount of people feel more comfortable is demeaning nonsense in my opinion.

Replying To macca999:  "Charging €15 into Tailteann cup games mean by plenty of games now with just a few hundred people and no atmoshpere, just what a new competition needs!! so G.A.A only have themselves to blame when interest is minimal. Unlikely people will go to all 3 games given travel involved, wouldnt have been rocket science to do a package offer, all 3 tailteann cup games for €25/€30, be more than enough and try let it prosper. Be better to have 1,000 people paying a tenner than 500 paying €15 but some dont see the bigger picture. Guessing All Ireland group games be priced at €20/€25, again people wont commit to all these games at such cost, especially as none of them are even knockout fixtures!!!"
Too many games, the novelty of inter county games is gone in both codes. Summers used to based around games, Ulster Football final, Munster Hurling final, there's so many games now unless you are a fervent follower of a specific county it's hard to know who's playing?

2021 Congress - Ban On Joint Captains Receiving Trophy - 1 Like(s)
Who decided this needed raising? Did someone from New York announce that if they saw one more presentation with two people lift a trophy they would burn down the clubhouse? And then the clowns actually voted in favour of it. Here's an idea, leave the bloody laws of the games alone for 20 years and concentrate on spreading the finances and marketing instead of this pedantic guff.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "This is it. I see lots of football journalists clutching their pearls and almost chastising Newcastle fans for continuing to support their club. The Tory government bend over backwards to do business with Saudi Arabia. Aren't we all a small bit complicit in enabling the Saudi regime with our consumption of their oil?"
Mental gymnastics at its finest from most people when it comes to football club ownership. Premier league clubs and a fair chunk of Championship clubs out side of maybe Luton, Brentford and Brighton are run by faceless corporate entities, who have no connection to the locales or communities that support them. It will be a long time before clubs are owned by supporters or locals again, thank God they have the fit and proper persons test in place though otherwise West Ham could be owned by a family of porn barons.

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "They'll need to abolish set scrums to get Americans to watch rugby. The average yank won't tolerate 2mins being consumed off the clock to set and reset every single scrum. Perhaps a system of going for commercial break at scrumtime could be considered?"
If they watch American football for 5 hours where nothing ever happens, surely they can put up with a scrum.
