Kilcar are the first team through to the semi-finals of the Donegal SFC after county star Paddy McBrearty scored 0-9 in a 1-14 to 1-7 victory over Killybegs at Páirc Tír Conaill.
The Towney men laid down an early marker when Ryan McHugh finished off a flowing move to the net on 12 minutes. That put them 1-4 to 0-1 up, and with McBrearty pointing the way, they went in at the break with a 1-7 to 0-4 advantage.
Killybegs battled gamely throughout but their 52nd minute penalty goal from Hugh McFadden wasn't enough to get them back into real contention as Kilcar kept the scoreboard ticking over to the end.
There are two more quarter-finals taking place later today with Aodh Ruadh and Gaoth Dobhair meeting in Eamonn Byrne Memorial Park at 3.30pm, and Davy Brennan Memorial Park hosting the clash between holders St Eunan’s and St Michael’s at 5.30pm. And then tomorrow, at 2.30pm, in Letterkenny, Naomh Conaill face Glenswilly, live on TG4.
