Colin Kelly has been ratified as Wicklow senior football manager for the 2022 season.

The former Louth boss will succeed Davy Burke, with the latter having vacated the role this past August after two seasons at the helm.

Kelly guided the Wee County to back-to-back promotions between 2015 and 2017 before stepping down and eventually taking over Westmeath.

After two seasons, his tenure with the Lake men would come to an end following an 11-point defeat to Armagh in the opening round of the 2018 qualifiers.

This past season saw Wicklow’s footballers tear up the script by defeating then Ulster champions Cavan to maintain Division 3 status in the league before exiting to Wexford in the preliminary round of the Leinster SFC.

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed last night that Eamonn Scallan will continue on as manager of the Garden County's hurlers for a third season.
