Fergal Reel will combine the roles of Louth U20 and Ardee, St Mary’s senior football managers in 2026.

The split-season model allows Reel to take on both jobs. The Silverbridge native led the Wee County to a first Leinster title at U20/U21 level in 44 years at the expense of holders Meath earlier this year and has now been named as Ardee manager in succession to Cathal Murray, who led them to three successive Louth SFC titles and also ran eventual All-Ireland club champions Cuala to a point during his four years in charge.

St Mary’s quest for a four-in-a-row of Joe Ward Cups was ended at the quarter-final stage by Newtown Blues in September and Murray has since taken the reins at Belfast club St Brigid’s.

Reel, who has won the Joe Ward Cup with St Pat’s and Naomh Mairtín, will be assisted by Seamie Mullholland, Barry Teather and David Woods.
