Davy Byrne and Ciaran Kilkenny are facing a race against time to be fit for Dublin’s All-Ireland SFC Round 2 encounter with Kildare at UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday.
Full back Byrne and long-serving attacker Kilkenny both went off injured during last Sunday’s drawn clash with Roscommon at Croke Park. Byrne strained a muscle after he was turned by Diarmuid Murtagh in the early stages, while Kilkenny picked up a shoulder injury late in the game.
Dublin manager Dessie Farrell is hoping to have Jack McCaffrey back for this weekend’s trip to Kilkenny, but it looks like it will come too soon for Eoin Murchan.
