Common sense has prevailed in the row over the scheduling of the Offaly senior ladies football final and the senior ‘A’ and ‘B’ camogie semi-finals for this weekend.

The ladies football decider between holders Tullamore and Naomh Ciaran was originally fixed for Sunday, a day after up to 11 of the clubs’ players are involved in camogie semi-finals. However, Offaly LGFA has now decided to move their showpiece game to Saturday week, October 8 to avoid a fixtures clash.

It comes after Tullamore ladies football manager Matty McCormack, who has nine dual players in his panel, called for the football final to be moved on player welfare grounds.
