A GAA club in Inishowen has made a lovely gesture to Shaun Patton in recognition of his heroics in last Sunday’s Ulster SFC final.

The St Eunan’s goalkeeper was the Donegal hero after his save from Armagh’s Shane McPartlan in the penalty shootout secured a first Anglo Celt Cup since 2019. Patton is a Garda based in Urris where he has held goalkeeping workshops with the local GAA club’s young netminders in recent years.

And Urris GAA didn’t forget that when they presented him with a personalised mug – complete with a box of Lyons teabags and a packet of Hobnobs – yesterday.

“The club were delighted to call in with our local Garda Shaun Patton this morning to congratulate him on his Ulster Championship success at the weekend, and present him with a keepsake personalised mug of his fantastic penalty save. Supplied by Sinéad’s Gift Shop,” a social media post read.

“Garda Shaun has made a huge contribution to Official Donegal GAA giving the whole community & county a lift in the last few weeks.

“Enjoy the tea breaks.”
