Sligo's bid for a three-in-a-row of Connacht U20FC titles came to an end last night at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park when they succumbed to Galway by 1-12 to 0-23.

Derek Savage's charges will go on to meet Roscommon in the final on Saturday week after an impressive performance in ideal conditions. Galway laid the foundations for victory in the opening 18 minutes when they ran riot with scores from Jack Mullin, Colm Costello and Matthew Thompson to open up a 0-12 to 0-1 lead.

A Connor Flynn goal gave the holds a glimmer of hope, but they still trailed by 1-2 to 0-13 at the break.

Luke Marren and Eli Rooney got further scores back for Sligo after the restart, but Galway held all the aces, with goalkeeper Eamon McGrath even chipping in with a pair of points from frees.
