Well said Paudie both players and management were a credit to Down hurling this year.. You can have all the structures in place you like but the promotion hurling got over the last fortnight will go a long way to developing our game in Down

Replying To Rolo2010:  "I don't think it has been the success some hurling fans make it out to be. Low attendances and no real increase in quality with the exception of Antrim."
Agree but a lot of the fault lies with the GAA. You only have to look at promotion of of Football B championship V Hurling B Championship. GAA put much more effort into football promotion and that is reflected in both attendances and coverage of games outside the the top 10 in both codes.

Replying To THEMOLE2:  "ACHL DIV 1 RESULTS NEWRY SHAMROCKS 6-17 V 1-9 KILCLIEF WARRENPOINT 2-11 V 2-15 BALLYGALGET LIATROIM 2-16 V 1-13 PORTAFERRY Powerful hammering there for Kilclief. Warrenpoint game looks to have been a cracker though! Great result for Liatroim against an unbeaten Portaferry side. ACHL Div1 is very tight this year - great to see!"
Warrenpoint game was a good close match throughout.. Ballygalget got two or three late points to seal it, just had the better know how to win it.. Great to see this league finally get competitive in some way... Ballycran look the strongest team at this stage, how many of there players make the Senior team?

DOWN JHC IHC SHC 2016 [FIXTURES & RESULTS] - 1 Like(s)

Replying To THEMOLE2:  "2016 Down GAA All County U16 Hurling Championship (Cup) BREDAGH vs BALLYGALGET Bredagh score goals and goals win games! Bredagh to win by 9 points here 2016 Down GAA Intermediate Hurling Championship CARRYDUFF vs BREDAGH Before the KilclieF game I really fancied Bredagh and although I still fancy them to win this game, they are no-where near the team I thought they were. They will ned to up their game all over the park and I expect them to rise to the occasion here and beat a younger Carryduff side by 7 points. Interestingly, these two meet in the IFC Semi-Final on Friday night in Newry! 2016 Down GAA Junior Hurling Championship CLONDUFF vs NEWRY SHAMROCKS Clonduff will be VERY hard to beat and have had really strong turnouts at training over the past weeks. Newry will find this a very tough battle and I fancy Clonduff to come out on top by 2-3 points! Newry will rely on the usual county stars but Clonduff might just have a stronger overall squad. LIATROIM vs WARRENPOINT Don't write the Point off completely! Their minors created a surprise by beating Newry and they wont be a complete roll over. Having said that, the experience of Liatroim should see them over the line by 8 points or so. 2016 Down GAA Intermediate Hurling Championship BALLYCRAN vs PORTAFERRY With the Ports playing the SHC the previous day, its hard to see past a Ballycran victory here and I expect them to come home handy enough by 8+ points."
2016 Down GAA All County U16 Hurling Championship (Cup) BREDAGH vs BALLYGALGET - GAME NOW ON IN BALLYCRAN Will be very close. I'll go for Bredagh by the minimum 2016 Down GAA Intermediate Hurling Championship CARRYDUFF vs BREDAGH - GAME NOW ON IN BALLYCRAN Will be very close game with Carryduff successful minor team making there mark. I would not read anything in who plays in what division. I seen Carryduff beat a hard Ballela team no mean feat. However I still think Bredagh will be too strong and expect them to win by 2 points. 2016 Down GAA Junior Hurling Championship CLONDUFF vs NEWRY SHAMROCKS Clonduff are going well but it's to see them them live with a Junior Team including playing 4 or 5 players who would walk on any Ards Senior team. Shamrocks by 5 and not more because I think they are brittle when it's put up to them and Clonduff will certainly do that. Also I understand Branigan can not play for Clonduff, he is a huge loss. LIATROIM vs WARRENPOINT Liatroim by 10. Warrenpoint are a lot better than what people give credit for but still expect Liatroim to pull away in the 2nd half. 2016 Down GAA Intermediate Hurling Championship BALLYCRAN vs PORTAFERRY - Ballycran to win as Ports will probably lose key players to game on Saturday. Some weekend of Hurling in Down. Downpartick Saturday morning with Eamon O Shea followed by the Senior Semi at 5. Then 2 double headers on Sunday...

2018 FIXTURES - Allianz Hurling League Roinn 2B - 1 Like(s)
A second-half goal from Eoghan Sands turned the tide in Down's favour as the Mourne men made it two league wins from two. Wicklow dominated possession in the first half but a hard-tackling Down defence helped them reach half-time ahead, 0-11 to 0-10. Andy O'Brien has been the scourge of Down in recent years and he contributed eight first-half points. When his threat was nullified in the second half and he was restricted to just two further scores, Wicklow's fate was sealed. When Christy Moorehouse Jnr split the posts on 46 minutes he moved Wicklow to within one point, 0-14 to 0-13. But in the following 17 minutes Down shot 1-8 without reply. Then the goal came from Sands. Declan McManus' effort for a point struck the upright and Sands reacted quickest to gain possession, and find the net. Three Wicklow points threatened a revival but Down had the last word via Pearse Óg McCrickard and Mark Fisher. Scorers - Down: P Óg McCrickard 0-5 (4f), P Sheehan, D Toner, M Fisher (3f) 0-4 each, E Sands 1-1, R Branagan 0-3, M Magee 0-2, D Sands 0-1. Wicklow: A O'Brien 0-10 (6f), G O'Brien 0-2, P Doyle, C Moorehouse Jnr, G Connors, G Byrne 0-1 each. Down - S Keith 7; B Byers 9, C Teggart 7, M Hughes 7; J McManus 8, M Fisher 8, L Savage 7; C Bailie 7, D Toner 8; R Branagan 8, D McManus 7, P Óg McCrickard 8; M Magee 7, P Sheehan7, E Sands 7. Subs: D Sands for Sheehan (45), E Coulter for Savage (70). Wicklow - R Fitzgerald 7; P Keane 7, B Cuddihy 7, M O'Brien 6; G Byrne 7, J Henderson 7, W Kavanagh 6; S Kelly 6, J Connors 6; E McCormack 6, A Byrne 6, P Doyle 6; D Staunton 6, A O'Brien 7, G O'Brien 6. Tailteann Cup Crowd Issues - 1 Like(s)
I watched it unfold, the 2 main reasons this happened was A) the group of laois lads drinking and singing blocked the walkway and the other reason is steward's would not let any supporters into the stand until all the meath / antrim fans funneled out into the walkway - perfect storm.... Don't think allocation of seats would have made a difference.

Tailteann Cup Crowd Issues - 1 Like(s)
Main issue was the drinking and everyone standing around bars and not moving and also not allowing the Down & Laois fans into take their seats- therefore creating a bottle neck in main walkways when the Antrim & Meath fans started streaming out. Nothing to do with reserved seating.
