Meath V Dublin - 18 Like(s)

Replying To Saynothing:  "Poster on here having digs at someone about bringing family into posts. Just to clear up my post, go to NFL Div2 dated 13th June, page9, regarding someone seeing end of Kildare v Meath match. I think it's explains all. Now if my post mentions family tell me where."
This is it here, http://www.hoganstand.com/Forum/Details/110459?County=National&PageNumber=8&TopicID=110459 The only mention of family on the thread was by RD himself, your comment was you thought he was talking bs saying he didn't see the 2nd half etc. many's the time you wouldn't feel like watching the end of a match if your teams playing rubbish and going to get beat, natural enough I suppose. some of us ejits sit and suffer till the bitter end though. I see from the 19 thumbs up your comment got that up many on here agreed with you and I don't see anything wrong in what you said. Yourself and RD have been having a back and forth but it was mostly about Tyrone Meath stuff and the 6 counties etc. As you said if the missed the second half ok just say that, who cares anyway, but when RD mentions his own son in the thread and then complains about people mentioning his family?? sounds like a load of bs to me anyway.

The GAA And "Northern Ireland" - 12 Like(s)
Northern Ireland is County Donegal, most northerly part of Ireland is Malin head, so are we the north of Ireland or Northern Ireland? The six counties are occupied still by a foreign power and held by the threat and use of force, The six county statelet was gerrymandered when it was created to give the unionists a permanent majority, that's going now because the catholics are out breeding them, if they had included Donegal from day one they could have called it Northern Ireland, but they wouldn't have had their apartheid wee orange state then were catholics were second class. The times they are a changing, border is the the Irish sea, thank God we are surrounded by water.

Replying To ConnollyDub:  "''Most counties only care about Meath'' You have just hit a new level of delusion royaldunne...which i didn't think was possible"
This thread is actually very funny and getting more so, hardly a mention of Dublin at all, think they are even afraid to mention Dublin because they know the pain is coming.

Replying To GreenandRed:  "Dualsport. For me a snowflake isn't left or right or centre or whatever you're having. It's someone who goes out of their way to be offended and root out what they see as the offensive terms in an argument and completely ignore someone elses point of view. At least if someone is left or right they have a stance on something and might even be admired even if you strongly disagree with their beliefs and opinions. Snowflake is a bit unfair to someone who could have mental issues maybe, though was there as much mental stress before social media? There are those people who believe that posting Black Lives matter or Save Paris banners on Facebook after a terrorist attack will change extreme views and actions, it won't. That's as much activism as they'll be involved in and they'll take offence if you suggest that all lives matter. They're best ignored. I've no time for organised religion and every religion has genuinely devout well meaning respectful people and a minority of wrongdoers who give them a bad name. The media will skew people's opinions by sensationalising the bad stuff. I think in Ireland a leftie, or bearded leftie as they were sometimes known, is a socialist who genuinely works for better rights and conditions for the working class. Not many of them in RTE. A bunch of public servants living on taxpayers money and offering very little new or creative."
Spot on, the thing I don't like about RTE is they are part of and used by the establishment to push their agenda, notice how they have made Labour and Alan Kelly the leader of the opposition with his 7 TD's!!, they treat Sinn Fein and anything to do with the north of Ireland as dirt on their shoes, as for us up here in the far northwest we might as well not exist, we get better news coverage from BBC NI.

Bloody Sunday - 7 Like(s)
Any man who doesn't want Ireland reunited isn't much of an Irishman in my opinion, Brexit has moved that day closer and I hope there is a border poll within the next 5 to 10 years. Just look at the Covid pandemic as an example, it could be handled so much better with an all Ireland approach, a partitioned Ireland makes no sense and never did, it was a cop out at the time and was never meant to last.

2021 Schedule - 7 Like(s)

Replying To Saynothing:  "Why didn't you say that in your first post post instead of blaming the North of Ireland. Americans kept flying into Dublin and traveling all over Ireland from the time this virus began."
There's something approaching 7 million people living in the 32 counties, why are we still allowing 1 million unionists to keep this country partitioned so they can live in their gerrymandered little failed statelet and pretend they are british and democrats, It's long past time we had this border poll, Brexit and Covid makes the need for unity essential if it wasn't obvious already. There needs to be an All ireland approach to controlling Covid 19 and this may not be last pandemic we see, if it was an animal disease the All Ireland approach would have there from the start. It's time politicians started leading instead of clowning about like headless chickens.

Andy Moran retires - 6 Like(s)
I suppose when you look at it Andy Moran retiring this week has taken the spotlight off the Dubs going for 5 in a row, RTE might cancel Up for the Match on Saturday night to do a prime time special on Andy Moran, the Roscommon man who nearly won an All Ireland with Mayo, fascinating stuff.

Monaghan and Armagh. What a game of football. - 6 Like(s)
Rte sports news was just on the news, those great Rte lovers of GAA and Ulster, the 'football qualifier' between Armagh and Monaghan' he says? doesn't even know it's the Ulster semi final and there's no bloody 'qualifiers' in football this year either. of course they spent 3 mins on Dublin's hurling game, glad I don't pay a licence fee to support this shower.

Replying To yew_tree:  "I was in the Hyde to see our u20 team win the Connacht title. Didn't wait for the senior but was back home to watch it on tv. Poor enough stuff...improved in the second Half. Galway were the better team but I don't see them winning an All Ireland with Walsh at the helm."
I don't see Mayo winning the All Ireland no matter who's at the helm, must be sad to be that bitter you couldn't stay to watch Galway win the Connaught title.

2020 All-Ireland Championships Back On - 6 Like(s)

Replying To s goldrick:  "I see they are definitely back on. although this sentence could be misleading: " The Association has ruled that UK county teams will not be involved in this year's All-Ireland championships ". What they meant was teams based in England. No mention of New York either. I presume they are out too"
That'll leave the Ulster Championship a 3 horse race if the uk counties are out already ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Ulster Final Donegal V Cavan - 6 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "Not having a pop. But that's a very odd thing to say, southern media ? I presume u not talking about Munster. Do you really view yourself as part of northern ire ?? Again not having a pop. I just never seen someone from Donegal Monaghan or Cavan refer to the media as southern. Dublin or d4 yeah."
For me we get far better coverage of Ulster football from BBCNI, Mickey Harte,Peter Canavan and Oisin McConville on as pundits yesterday for the ulster semi final, compare that to what RTE serve up. Neither Ulster semi final was covered by RTE, I have always felt very detached up here from the Dublin based media, it's only recently that we get much coverage of anything up here. I feel far more at home in Belfast or Derry than I would in Dublin. Derry would be or nearest city, partition and the troubles affected Donegal as well in lots of ways. from a geographical point of view we are the north, you can't get any further north. Tell someone in Malin hd that they are in the south, it's bonkers. What I said about the semi final and fellas wrongly thinking of playing the Dubs before they have even taken on Cavan, I wasn't dismissing Meath's chances but I suppose the whole country is expecting Dublin to win the 6 in a row in truth, best of luck to Meath on Saturday, be some craic if ye beat Dublin!!

Meath V Dublin - 6 Like(s)

Replying To brian:  "Well when everyone and their dog from around the country wants to get into this thread and kick Meath its hard to talk about the Dubs at the same time. No one from Meath is afraid to mention Dublin. Think we're all realistic enough to know what the outcome of this match will be. I'm on record as saying I'd be sick to my stomach with a loss regardless of a 1 or 21 point victory. But maybe you should take your own advice there and worry about the pain coming your own way this weekend. Rahter than focusing on Meath V Dublin go focus on Donegal v Derry. Donegal supporters were so concentrated on how you'd beat Dublin last year that you disregarded Cavan and got your tails handed to you. Once bitten twice shy and all that...,"
I didn't come here to have a go at Meath at all, I just read through the thread and there was very little mention of the Dubs, sad times when ye are going in against the Dubs and know you are going to get walloped, I think if this was Donegal Tyrone Mayo Galway etc we'd be going in thinking/hoping we could beat them or at least have a damned good go at it, I didn't include Kerry in that because I think at this stage Kerry are confident of matching the Dubs and beating them. best of luck on the day anyway.

Gough Speaks Out Against Shamefull Slurs - 5 Like(s)
I thought he was influenced by what was said in the media at the time, it's that long ago now I kind of forgot it, don't think he's that great of a ref anyway but it's a thankless job. I think a ref should have been picked from a neutral province, suppose that would have been too simple.
