Celbridge progressed through to their 12th consecutive Kildare senior football championship semi-final by defeating Moorefield (3-19 to 1-16) in Newbridge this afternoon.

Dean O'Donoghue scored a hat-trick of goals which ultimately proved the difference between the sides as the winners progressed to a last four date with defending champions.

Naas, who are chasing their fifth consecutive Dermot Bourke Cup success, have defeated Celbridge in the last two county finals and will meet them again at the semi-final stage after seeing off Clane by 1-22 to 0-13 yesterday (Saturday) evening.

The earlier game in the Kildare SFC yesterday saw Athy booking their place in the semis after making their goals count in a 3-7 to 0-10 victory over Caragh, with Kevin Feely (penalty), Colm Moran and Conor Doyle the players to bag the goals.

Athy now get set to face Sarsfields in a fortnight’s time after the latter scored a 2-21 to 2-17 comeback win over Johnstonbridge at St Conleth’s Park this afternoon.

Two first-half goals from Daniel Flynn helped Johnstownbridge to hold a commanding 2-15 to 1-7 advantage at the halfway stage, but Sarsfields dominated after the change of ends and a couple of Barry Coffey scores along with a goal via Kevin Hartley would help them complete the turnaround to advance.
