Tributes have been paid following the death of Cork sports broadcaster Paudie Palmer on Sunday morning.
The 65-year-old was left in a critical condition after a two-vehicle collision at Dunkereen Cross in Innishannon, near Bandon, Co Cork on December 30th.
He passed away this morning at Cork University Hospital.
A native of Templenoe, Co Kerry, Mr Palmer was a teacher in Bandon, Co Cork, worked with local radio station C103FM and was also a columnist with The Echo newspaper.
Cork GAA and Tánaiste Micheál Martin were among those that paid tribute to Mr Palmer following his passing, while his god-daughter Claudine Keane, wife of former Republic of Ireland soccer star Robbie Keane, asked for prayers for her “lovely, talented and charismatic uncle Paudie" as he laid in hospital.
A man in his 30s has been charged and appeared before the courts in connection with the hit-and-run incident.
