Minors 2017

Replying To Sean.66:  "These good minor teams are most of the 3 in a row Gerry Reilly cup winning teams which leads me to the question as to why we have no U16 team in this years competition.... Does anyone know why we are not takeing part as it has served us well in recent years....?"
It's a poor standard of competition. We'd be better off playing other Ulster teams like Tyrone and Donegal than walking over the likes of Wicklow and Meath. Dublin have a number of panels at U16 so it's impossible to say whether it's anywhere close to being their best squad that they send out.

I don't think it's very accurate to say that it's 'served us well'. The decision to get out of the competition was made before the Minors started this year. The decision was made at a time when we had been to one Ulster Final recently which involved facile victories over Monaghan and Antrim and we then lost convincingly to Derry and Kildare and been beaten well by Armagh last year.

Replying To Virginiablue75:  "Paddy Meade played full back in all league and c'ship games. With regard to no 6 centre half back the following players played this position in league and c'ship - Philip Rogers; Kevin Hendrick; Danny Cusack; Oisin Kiernan; Cormac Timoney and Evaan Fortune."
I was in Armagh last Saturday and Paddy Meade was Centre Half Back Evan Fortune was Full Back

Thanks Eduardo66. I sometimes get it hard to navigate the minefield that is the TG4 website. :)

I don't think the bookies quote on underage matches

Best of luck to the minor footballers, to date they have shown a never say die attitude and play the game in the right way. They have a big test on Sunday but they have shown that they can produce the goods when its most needed!

Not a good start. Too open. When you play with no game plan what do you expect.

Black card a joke. They battled well and deserve great credit. Just set up wrong.

Ah would go and take a walk fella the black card changed everything seems you like you enjoy it every time a Cavan team is beaten. They are still there another match next week write them off at your peril. A small error turned the tide but he will have learnt from it. Well done on getting to the Ulster Final and the best of luck in the All Ireland 1/4 final. The majority os the genuine people are behind you.

I said they battled well. Said weeks ago tactically clueless and so it proved. Why haven't we people in charge of teams in Cavan that have a gameplan. The blackcard didn't change the game. Our defence was so open. Look at what we conceded. A hurling score in an hour of football. John Brady obviously said hello to you so all is well.
