Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "When a game is over in 10 minutes (2019 Final) doesn't mean you are competitive… We won the 2020 Final after Donegal took their eye of the ball in what was a more than strange campaign… what has happened since (relegated to Div 4) has been shocking….. Do you honestly think our team and the way they performed v Sligo or Westmeath would have a snowball's chance in hell up against Armagh/ Tyrone/Derry or Donegal if they met….? Just because we got hammered in one Ulster Final and completely fluked our way into the next one in no way says we are competitive in Ulster…. We are in the Mickey Mouse Taltainn Cup for God's sake… Have a bit of wit…!"
some one tell this fella that we played donegal this year and were very competitive against them and if we had of taken our goal chances in the first half we would have beaten them.

Replying To cavanblueman:  "Stop changing the subject by reverting back to the league and answer the question.

You said we weren't competitive in Ulster under Mickey Graham. I stated that in the 4 years under Mickey Graham, we reached two Ulster Finals and won one of them. We also beat Monaghan, twice I think over those few years, something that we failed to do for a long time.

Now, answer the question, when was the last time Cavan reached two Ulster Finals in the space of two years? When was the last time Cavan won an Ulster Final before 2019. Forget about your flukes and your winter competition, the fact is, under Mickey Graham, we are now able for any team in Ulster, something that we weren't under the previous two managers."
Able for any team…? Cop on to yourself.. We would beat Antrim ( woeful ) and maybe Fermanagh or Down ( but I wouldn't have the house on it ) … No hope with the rest under the current set up… No point in looking backwards.. it's the here and now that matters… Graham got lucky in 2020 and is dining out on it since… He is way out of his depth… Should have been run after the Wicklow debacle…!

Mickey beat them when they had 4 All-Stars!

A one off winter championship? you mean when conditions were difficult for all teams?"
Conditions suited some teams more then others. Cork stole victory against Kerry but were hammered the following year.

But good achievement.

I have been watching these post regarding the Cavan Senior squad. The obvious dislike towards Mickey Graham by ForeverBlue2 is ridiculous. I'm not saying he is totally wrong but its obvious he has a major problem with Graham. He must post his negativety 3/4 times a day. Just try not make it obvious

Rubbish.

We are now able for any team in Ulster? Really? Then why are we ranked about 6th in a province of 9 teams? Surely if we are as good as you say we are the bookies would consider us contenders. Reality check- they don't.

I never once said I disliked Mickey Graham…. he is probably a decent chap but I think he is not up to the job…. He took over a team operating in Div 1 and took them all the way to Div 4…. Are those the actions of a competent manager..: I think not.. He did give him credit somehow win the Ulster title in 2020 but this should not mask over some shocking results in the after math of that… Our performance and tactics in the Taltainn Cup Final were the last straw for me….. Shocking stuff..but if people are happy with that sort of stuff then so be it… I'm not and I'm entitled to make my point regardless of those who continually applaud mediocrity… As I said you reap what you sow …..

Agree with most of what you say but I do think that Mickey should( if he's interested) be given the chance to get us back up the divisions.
Anything less than promotion to Div 2 next year is failure in my eyes.
Ulster championship results next year is bonus territory . Promotion and consistently raising the quality of our opposition might raise our quality too.
Definitely his back room team needs complete overhaul as Johnson and Ricey are clearly not up to the tasks.
If Mickey sorts those too positions out I'd have no problem with him staying but promotion has to be the minimum goal.
Anything else is a bonus.

No hatred whatsoever towards Mickey Graham but you must have a hatred for reality….. time you woke up and started living in the real world… you are in cloud cuckoo land….!!

I would agree with that but I can't see Mickey Graham staying on if it means Johnston and McMeninem been run… our way of playing football and the tactics we use are woeful and Mickey Graham must have a say in this as manager and if he hasn't then what's the point in him been there… I am in no way singling out Graham for full blame but at the end of the day he has to carry the can…. Getting promoted to Division 2 is top priority next season as you rightly say regardless of who is manager….!!!!

Johnston was a fine player. Probably should stay coaching / managing at club level first for a few years.
Ricey? Well I could never see what he brought to Cavan. Or Fermanagh for that matter.

Word is Mickey Graham will be staying on as manager of the County team but as yet no word about the back room team… a couple have gone and more would need to follow…

What are peoples vies on the news coming through?
On reflection, I am actually quite satisfied he is staying on. He has given some us our greatest days as Cavan Fans in the last few years.
I love how he took time to decide , no quick decisions.
We all share the same obsession, we all love Cavan Football.
Lets enjoy the club and roll on 2023.

2 more years for Graham. Like I said before, makes no difference who is in charge, the system itself in Cavan is broken.

Agree with that so long as he changes some of his back room staff and more importantly changes our deplorable way of playing….. We have some decent players in pivotal positions but have not been utilised properly with our dreadful slow build up play even against the lesser teams… If this doesn't change then this 2 year extension is only a waste of time… We will just have to wait and see I guess….!

Talk of some players travelling next year and 1 or 2 retirements, so could be a big challenge in 23

Surprised Cavan's answer to Jimmy Sloyan hasn't been on to tell us John Joe was over-rated and we shouldn't be celebrating a few soft flukey all-irelands
