County Structures

Sure Mickey has not confirmed if he is staying yet. Heard a committee put together to look at underage structures and development squads in Cavan. Badly needed.

Thats an interesting development surely and dare i say it, a positive one.

Anyone calling for Mickeys head ought to be careful what they wish for, 2 ulster final appearances and 1 victory makes him unquestionably cavans best manager of modern times. However he must also accept his criticism for ending up in division 4, there is no excuses for being down having spent large pasts of last decade in division 1, we need to get out of there decisively and without any fuss as its absolutely no good for developing players

How Mickey reorganises his backroom team is massive now, you look at Tyrones heavyweight backroom of Holmes/McMahon/Donnelly which is hard to top, i dont rate banty at all as a manager but he has also put good people in around him in Donie Buckley and Lennon.

I think Graham is undoubtedly the best man for the job for cavan but his backroom assembly is massive now.
Names i would like to see considered as selectors coaches would include Laverty/McConville/John McEntee/Aidan O'Rourke/Rochford/Ricey McMenamin

Can't imagine someone like Laverty would have any interest, isn't the Down senior job still vacant? Would imagine all those mentioned have managerial ambitions in their own right. If Graham does stay on then he needs someone very tactically astute beside him, Cavan looked utterly clueless in Navan in that Wicklow debacle and, despite the revisionism in recent days, we didn't lay a glove on Tyrone.

indeed, would be good to properly discuss this type of stuff here though, would make a change from relentless negativity that most cavan poster enjoy "The players are s**t....the managers are s**t....the club game is s**t...cavan are s**t" etc etc.

Be could to hear some thoughts or solutions on what cavan do next

Who could Cavan bring in to replace Dermot?
Lets be realistic, Div 4 Team. Is there an option that Mickey brings in somebody who could replace him when he finishes up?
Is there anybody in Cavan??

To be fair to Declan he was a good footballer but l think he never made a good backroom man.

Solutions are what the Co. are elected for - if there are no ideas at that table they all should do the decent thing and resign.

If this move in the Cavan back room staff is to be believed then it's a very positive move…. I would however think the person in mind will still have too much say at county board level…. In my opinion Mickey Graham should also be removed… getting a vote of confidence for taking a team from division 1 to division 4 is unbelievable…. Reward for total failure….!!!

This is hilarious. Total failure?! He's managed us to two Ulster Championship finals and we've won one!

You are aware that the negativity stems from what takes place on the pitch right?

But please, put your spin on how losing to Wicklow and ending up in Div 4 is actually a good thing.

Getting in some new players and abandoning this pathetic slow build up , passing across and backwards and taking no risks football… Cavan don't ( and never had ) players to play that way… l love Tyrones way of playing… defend properly with tight marking and then break at pace while all the time leaving players up front to get the ball quickly to… Cavan have gone impossible to watch the way they have played in the last number of years… boring stuff..

Agree with that post if a tradesperson comes to do a job and doesn't have the correct tools he can't complete the said job. So it's similar with the manager of a team where's his leaders on the pitch that carries out his instructions who's using their heads out there when things go wrong whose rallying them on the pitch good players normally make the right decisions and don't take stupid shots which drop into the keepers hands ie like Mayo did v Tyrone that's not the managers fault. Now I don't know Micky Graham and never met him but I'm sure he's a passionate Cavan man who only wants the best for his County and I'm not happy I'm actually embarrassed that a proud footballing county will be playing in div 4 next year and yes he led them there but some of the reasons I mentioned earlier has a huge bearing on why we are where we are. At the moment he's the manager as for replacing him ? Replace him with whom. Who would want it
